If anyone's looking to uprade their machines anytime soon, now's the time. AMD just cut their processor prices by a significant amount.
AMD CPU Pricing List.
If you want an example, the dual core 3800+ costs $176 (which is very cheap for a dual core processor clocked at 3.8 ghz), and the single core version is just $112. The sweet part is, retailers of the chips have to set them lower than that to be competitive, so expect them to be a good $10-20 cheaper than those prices!
Roumer has it that Intel is about to cut their prices too, but I wouldn't expect them to be in this range, since they use a different fabrication process (costs them more to make their chips).
The time is now! So if you have a socket 939 motherboard, and you need a little boost, it might be worth looking at your nearest retailer, or online (newegg, ebuyer and such).
Did a bit of digging for those who are lazy.
