Right im putting a new system together but i cant seem to make a decission about he Vidcard got these 2 in mind but what to take..

Sapphire TOXIC X1900 XTX

or the

Asus EN7950GX2/2PHT/1G

The Asus got a whopping 1GB of memory on it, nice for the big maps but the ATI beats it in details and has Liquid cooling on it.... would be a plus for me since i got a liquid cooling system and this is easy to hook on without ruining my warranty right?

the ATI got a built in water cooling, doubt you can hook it up to your existing one. maby there's a waterblock that fits the regular 1900xtx and can be hooked to it.

the 7950 is a nice piece of machinery, a sc. SLI with one card as it has 2 chipsets. put 2 of those and you got quad-sli:P

i went for the 7900 gtx, a very nice card that runs just about any game out there with ease, and a very quiet one(the reason i got it instead of the 1900xtx)

not wasting my time on revieuws on both but just looking at the specs.
i would go for the ATI x1900.
the asus may have 1 gb of memory but if i just look at the clock speeds than you wil see a diference.

In addition wait untill backslash posts here.

ATI.

X19 has 48 ALU's, Nvidia don't even come close to that. That one GPU can outrun those two cards easily.

Buuut...

If you can hold out till the end of the year. ATI's new chip is going to be a WTFPWN corker.

end of the year = OMG so looooong?

MEH

but basicly the ATI has more power to process the detail stuff while the Nvidia card can hold a lot of info but just doesnt have the power to process all the data eh?

actually, the nvidia 7950 does have the same 48, as it's 24 x 2.

and here's a small review, but i'm sure jack's got anotherone proving this article wrong:P

(i) World's fastest claim based on testing GeForce 7950 GX2 against the leading competitor, the ATI Radeon X1900 XTX and GeForce 7900 GTX. Performance tested on F.E.A.R run at 1600x1200 resolution with Soft Shadows enabled. NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 scores 69 frames per second versus 40 frames per second for ATI Radeon X1900XTX and 48 frames per second for the GeForce 7900 GTX. Also, on Quake 4 run at 2560x1600 resolution, NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 scores 126.6 frames per second versus 95.6 frames per second for ATI Radeon X1900XTX and 101.5 frames per second for the GeForce 7900 GTX. Also 3DMark06 at 1600x1200 resolution, NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 scores 5905 versus 4586 for ATI Radeon X1900XTX and 4633 for the GeForce 7900 GTX. Benchmarks were run on an Athlon FX-57 system with 1GB RAM and Windows XP SP2 using NVIDIA ForceWare Release 90 drivers, and ATI Catalyst 6.4 drivers.

The fact that ALL BENCHMARKS show that the X1900XTX is the worlds fastest card, shows you wrong. The moment the resolution/detail gets set to high, the Nvidia cards get left behind because of the way the ATI memory architecture is designed.

Ignore what that says, the X1900XTX IS the fastest card. Get it.

And the fact you go to money.cnn for your review... That's just sad. It's not a reputable site.

The 7950 does run games faster at LOWER resolutions, but why on EARTH you'd want to buy something like that only to run games at 800x600 and 1024x768, I have no clue. Once the resolutions hit 1280x1024 +, the ATI starts hauling ass.

Get the X1900XTX. I have two, and I've never swap them for a 7950 (or two).

Having said that, if you can wait. Wait. The dual core ATI card with 64 unified shaders is coming soon, and the neither of those cards will be able to catch that thing (plus it has DX10 and Shader Mark 4.0 support).

sry, didn't know it wasn't reputable i just go with what i usually read(yes i read cnn websites)

and about the benchmarks, i'd really like to see a comparison between x1900xtx/7900gtx/7950gx2.....from your reputable sites:)

Toms Hardware.
Driverheaven.

And remember you're talking to someone who writes reviews for hardware... I've had a X1900XTX and 7950GX2. Yet I own two X1900XTX's. "Why?", because they're better.

checked the 7950 review on toms hardware and the benchmarks.....tight fight, both having there games theyre better at, ati with halflife but nvidia winning at 3dmark....even on higher resolutions:)

good cards both of them no doubt, and as i said i went for the 7900 gtx for it being quiet.

To be honest, right now, buying the OMFGSHINY top of the line card would be a bad idea. I would wait for the DX10 cards to come out, because in two years, you'll basically need a DX10 GFX card.

If you absolutely have to buy a new card now, don't get the top of the line card. Instead of getting an X1900XTX or a 7950GX2, you would be better off getting the X1900XT or the 7900GT, because they're a lot cheaper with a very little performance hit.

Unless of course, you're of the mind to flush money down toilets.
