.... you model a starship for fun
I guess it's a 'dread' class starship..
Some influence from Starcraft, Halo 2, some of my previous starships, and of course, UGTO of Darkspace ( Hard to miss eh? ).

LOA! my dear freind! i see you have found Wings 3D too!
lol. i need help. With what i've created so far, the objects dont respond realisticly to light.
E.G.
1. AN OBJECT 2.another object

For some reason, the lighting upon 2.another object is as if 1.an object isn't there. is it surposed to be like this is this a varible you can change?

Uploaded the final model @ http://asfp.atspace.com/colonyship.wings. I havn't done a very good job with being conservative with polygons though.. there's a lot of unecessary polygons.
As I'm going to sleep I realized most people don't have Wings 3D, so if anyone wants to use the model for some reason, I'll export it to 3ds or .obj or something.
@thunder thx, i suck at making skins work too :P
@Main I'm not very good at skinning things :/
@Screaming I don't know too much about Wings, I just use it to model :] I model in Wings then use Blender for finer details/textures etc. b/c

This is good but what about making smaller ship class.
Only the older players can get the new dreads most likely but what about the new ones or players that reset their status.

That's a great point Bum!
I thought about it for a small while, and I thought the K'luth was most in need of small ships.
I recall playing with the1483 Fang.. it wasn't terribly easy to do any damage.. so midshipmen demo accounts 'demoing' the game won't be able to experience any fun combat as K'luth [whereas the human factions offer low-rank ships that can actually be used for combat ei. assault corvette, stealth/sensor corvette, interceptor frigates].
And, where UGTO and ICC have M.S. rank frigates, K'luth offers none.. so I made a K'luth frigate, named the 'Carpal'. I have a sketch done, I'll try making the mesh tomorrow.. The ship would have 5 'ruptors and 2 AM torps, and 1 full armor, 1 aft 1 fore, seems like a good 'loadout'..
... I really want to try skinning that purdy dread though :p

Ooo..
Can someone like ipload the textures/matrials for the ships for the three factions ?
there kinda hard to make by yaself and self made ones dont look right.
