Balance Changes / Flux Wave |

I've been discussing some changes with players in the lobby, and we all came up with several good ideals for getting the UGTO back on their footing and fixing the flux wave issue..
Firstly, the flux wave would either become UGTO specfic only and weaker... or just be removed entirely from the game.
The UGTO proton torpedos would track their target.
Increase the damage of the Particle Cannon, making the UGTO cannons more effective in combat.

If you have to choose one of the 3, go with the cannons. If the UGTO get tracking torps, the ICC cruisers will become useless; they'd lose their ability to dodge torps, and become frag bait much like Dreads can be.

Yes, I would agree with that. The only way I could see making torp tracking a good idea is by reducing the damage they do. I do think the p-cannons should have a increase in strength. Would make the BD not so paper, and make the EAD more powerful.
Also, maybe give them a super CL, like a CL 3k or something, so the EAD is really an elite dread? Dunno about that, but maybe?
Or maybe make their CL2ks not effected by range like the others? Just some weapon things to give them a slight edge on the attacking front.

Maybe the torps can track SOMEWHAT, but they're not that accurate...I agree, if all the torps can hit guaranteed, it's kinda moot, but if they only have a CHANCE of tracking through to the target, then it makes more sense. Maybe they've got a 25% possibility of tracking the target properly, and the rest of the time they either stay ballistic or miss.
I really would like to see a tracking torpedo, though. Would add some variety to the game.

errrm Faus..
we Kluth are already using ptorps all the time. those already ARE the best torp ingame
AM torps loose over longer battles due to their slow speed and recharge rate, ptorps beat em to both, and then they got a bigger range also..
dont mess with the torps please

REMOVE FLUX!
it completelly screws up the game. no matter what slot it goes in (unless it gets a flux slot) kluth will always have 20 or more.
FLux sucks dump please!

PTorps *are* the best. Sure AM do the most damage, but PTorps fire and travel faster. Now, I'd like to see tracking myself, but perhaps take the damage down a tiny bit if you do so. By "tracking", well, look at the turning rate of IT missiles as opposed to PCM. That's an easy way to adjust them, just give them a poor (but noticable) turn radius, and they'll either give a slightly better chance of hitting a target (slow movers deserve to get hit ) or miss, like always.

if you give the ptorps tracking feature, it would make ptorps even BETTER
and theyre the best already
the point wher ei mentioned kluth using them was merely to point out that they MUST be damn good already, if we do so

dont remove flux, UGTO will be... screwed if that happens (just like when cannons were nerfed). i say un-nerf the cannons, would help heckalot. make p-torps guided, and well, every ship in the MV will have them, wont help UGTO much.

If Proton Torpedoes track, then all torpedoes should track.

If Proton Torpedoes track, then only the UGTO should get Proton Torpedoes.

I like the flux and the particle cannon ideas.
I'm not sure about the torp one however.
I guess it all depends on how well they track.
Maybe if you give them something like a dread's ability to turn while traveling a few degrees a second turning ability that would work nice. But I don't think we should have torpedos that cruise around for several min trying to hit the target.

Wow, Faustus, you are really stirring up the pot today! It's going to be a whole new game to learn. I don't mind, though. I know if things get too bad you'll squeeze out a new patch in the next week or so. Go for it!
By the way, why flux beam as UGTO only? I know I have seen some mounted but I always thought they kinda sucked. The tech the other factions get exclusively is good stuff, though. Gonna miss those pulse sields!

I have to agree there. UGTO is getting the short end of the stick with regards to faction-only tech. Flux beam is worthless.
Kluth get their two signature ultimate devices and a worthless bomb. ICC get their two signature ultimate devices and the best pd laser. UGTO get one ultimate device and a worthless attack laser.
Solution: Make Proton Torps UGTO-only. If you don't, EVERY ship that has a heavy weapon slot in the MV is going to be full of Ptorps. I guarantee it.
