I need to come up with massive amounts of text to add into the mission system. Missions can be anything from a simple go orbit this planet, to missions that interact and work off each other...

For example:

"Enemy activity has been detected near Mycopia, proceed to that location and provide intelligence."

Thus, I would like to ask for help coming up with alot of this fiction/text... Just post your ideal/fiction in this topic..

It would help a great deal if you gave us types of missions you had in mind originally.

But to not have wasted a posting...

The following all feed off of the same event (a disabled ship in open space - possibly a larger class ship, AI controlled):
-seek and destroy for enemy side:
"A crippled enemy ship has been reported in the Z system, near planet X. Proceed, with haste, to coordinates x, y in the Z system and engage all enemy units at will."

-seek and repair for friendly side:
"One of our ships has been badly hurt and needs immediate assistance. Proceed to system Z, coordinates x, y, near planet X. Enemy interference is possible, so speed while repairing is of essence."

-seek and cover for friendly side:
"One of our ships has been badly hurt and needs immediate protection. Proceed to system Z, coordinates x,y, near planet X. Provide cover for friendly repair crews until they complete repairs. Engage all enemy craft at will."

SCOUT
Ship - "Intelligence reports are coming in of (faction name) movement near (planet, system name or x,y coordinates). Beacon* (any or X amount) of ships in the area."

Planet - "(planet name) is under control of the (faction name), do a recon flight near the planet and asses its defenses." (maybe even have a requirement to beacon any power sources or some defenseive structures)

SEARCH_DESTROY
Ship - "Enemy vessel detected in the vasinity of (planet or x,y). This ship is extremely hostile, it must be eliminated."

Planet - "(structure, ie dictor base) on (planet name) is causing disruptions to our campaign in (system name). Destroy it. (add a bonus for destroying other structures too maybe)

SEARCH_RESCUE
Ship - "(player name) is (under heavy attack/needs resupply), rescue him by eliminating his aggressors and bringing him back to (planet name)"

ESCORT
AI trannies - "Trade routes are under fire. Escort (x amount) of transports to (planet name(s))."
or
Player escort - "(player name) needs an escort to (planet name) due to the high concentration of enemy in the area. Make sure he (makes it there/delivers his cargo/ reaches his destination) safely."

CAPTURE
"Campaign analyists have decided that our next offensive move should be to capture (planet name). It must be captured with (certain amount of certain structures, ie 5 def bases, 3 fushion gens, star port and colony base) intact. Hold it for (x amount of time) so our engineers can (rebuild/re-fortify) it."

DEFEND
"(planet name) is under bombardment, repel any attackers and stop enemy infantry from landing. Repel any attack on the planet for (x amount of time)."

Perhaps a defend mission could be instituted for engineers while they are building or even for stations (player or player built) - "(player name/station x) is under attack. Repel the attack and make sure they are safe for the next (x amount of time." (maybe something like that)

TRANSFER
"(planet name) is having a shortage of (mineral name) it requires (x amount). Transfer these goods from any possible source."

AQUIRE
? what are we supposed to Aquire? gadgets? for what purpose?

*also i think the beacon should be changed to a life of 15-30 minutes (in scen) instead of being able to be taken off by a supply (in MV should be longer).

here u go, brace urself, long read. hope it gets some ideas going.

SCOUT

1- Intel info indicate a possible enemy base in the asteroid belt in y system. Come into scanner range to detect any presence.

2- We have reports that there may be a conflict between x and y faction, assess each of the faction`s fleet, a bonus will be given to any ships beaconed.

3- A new enemy ship design is under research on y planet in x system, scan the planet for any information. Do not get seen or they will probably destroy the research.

4- Scientists observed that y volcano planet (or any other non colonizable planet) may show signs of destabalization in its core, the planet may turn (insert phenomena here), scan the planet for x amount of time or drop x amount of beacons on it to give enough information for our scientists so they get a better idea of the situation.

5- Scientists spotted an unkown object far outside x system NEAR coordinates x,y. Investigate and beacon the object. (see search and destroy mission 1)

(could be a simple moving asteroid)

6- We have received a distress signal from the emergency beacon of the uss ... ,an important military cargo vessel. try to locate the remains of the vessel wich could have been near x,y position or near x planet. (see aquire mission 1 and 2 and see escort mission 1 and 2 and see search_destroy mission 2)

7- meat is harder to find these days, latest human captives has been found to be very juicy and tasty. The kluth is extreamly interrested, we need more, find them. (lol, see search and destroy mission 4)

Search_Destroy

1- An asteroid has been confirmed having a vector to x planet, scouts has been dispatched, contact x player for its latest location and destroy it!!

2- Intel has reported that an enemy cargo vessel has had a fatal fusion reactor breach that destroyed the ship, probably due to their lack of competent engineers [:)], intercepted communication shows that they will have transport to recover the valuable cargo, dont let that happen.

3- Resistance communication indicate that x recently captured planet is now being engineered and building rehab habitat domes. Save the resistance and destroy the engineer. (succes may turn a planet to neutral, damn i like this one)

4- a fleet of juicy humans is moving in y system, create havok and destroy as many vessels as u can, make sure you dont forget to harvest the remains for food for our families.

Aquire

1- remains of the uss ... ,a friendly military cargo vessel, has been found in y system. ask for player x to give current location and retreive the valuable ship systems.

2- intercepted communication indicated that a military cargo vessel has been destroyed, go and retreive the goods in x sys at coordinates x,y.

escort

1- a transport is on its way to recover valuable ship parts, provide cover, intel thinks that the initial distress signal might have been heard by the enemy.

2- the enemy has lost a cargo vessel in y system, we are trying to race them and retreive the technology before them, you will likely find resistance, protect your transport long enough for it to recover the cargo.

Search and rescue

1- x cargo vessel has lost its jump drive due to a malfonction of the reactor core, the explosion also destroyed the drive and created several hull breaches, we need emergency repairs to be done to the vessel, last known location in x system, god speed.

2- distress signal sent by a drifting military vessel that lost his engines during the latest fights against x faction. The captain indicated that he was drifting toward the star in y system. The crew only have 15 minutes before the heat protective hull gets incinerated, save them!!! (tractor outta there, would make some use of tractor beam, i like it).

Transfer

1- fighting vessel had several casualties due to the last fight with x faction, the boarding troops reduced the internal security forces to a minimum, bring back the highly trained troop at x planet to his ship.

crap, i have nothing to do at work right now and i have lots of idea. but i gotta stop typing just now or ppl wont like it .

Um, Assess (to evaluate) is spelled, well, like that. Not 'Asses' which would be swearing or 'Asess'.

Also, Faustus, Aquire is spelled 'Acquire' - although I recognize it may be too late if you've named some modules like that, possibly deliberately.

Slightly off topic. Faust could you use the mission system and expand on it for faction missions. This would be an evolving story line and could involve all factions, each with a different goal (or similar). This would require teamwork, and little updates, but would be much fun for all. Of course this would only be possible when the MV is full. Ive already sketched up a first storyline, which i wont post as an example incase you take to the idea. But if you want more information contact me.

The Police forces of XYZ system has some kind of evidence of criminal activity made by XYZ fleet. Destroy main forces of xyz, their home system is still unrecognized.

Vice Admiral Cellix needs you to monitor the trade activity of Earth. A 5 minute analysis should be sufficient via scanner from a distance not to exced 2000 gu(?, I wouldnt want a poor scout to get mauled by def bases when he activates his scanner). All incoming transports must be traced to thair origins and thair point of origin must be analysed via scanner as well to determine possible cargos being delivered. The Sag Hotha transport itself must be taged and tracked to its destination witch must also be scanned.

Will there be new unit types like dignitaries and spies? Or possibly ships not of any particular faction to rendezvous with to obtain such units or even mission specific gizmos like data disks or something?

I just thought of something. For MV missions it might be helpfull to insert a refueling point if its really deep into enemy territory or even just in enemy territory.

What you think about Gas Giant ?

Next proposal about fiction:
Our diplomacy efforts won for us XYZ system. Build it up with strong defense and start XYZ gadget production. Remember XYZ gadget need following resources to be mining: resource A, resource B, resource C. Resource C is not present in XYZ system. Build up trading system for that resource.

I think there should be some special devices to be transported to other planets as well, just for trading and gaining credits, but no prestige! Something like, transport those 300 super computers to the new ICC labs at X

Mission: Bring Spy form xyz to abc. Try not to be detected by enemy froces as diplomatic consequences would be strenuous!

Rescue Mission: Try to bring Spy from ABC to xyz. Try to keep undetected by enemy patrols.


Search and destroy: Inteligence reports that a small enemy vessle is trying to intrude the ABC System to drop enemy agents on one of its planets. Counter inteligence suggests that you patrol the Planets ABC1, ABC2 and ABC3 as the installations there are the mos valuable targets for espionage.
