Wow... I thought this was a feature everyone wanted so badly.. and nobody has said a word about it since I put the code up in beta?

yeah there are a few things...

i'd like to be able to change the keymappings to the mouse.. ie: MOUSE1, MOUSE2, 3 , etc....

what i really want, is to be able to map the weapons to the numberpad keys instead of 1-9 as they are right on top of the A,D,W,S.. i find myself crossing hands to both move and fire at the sametime during battle... i see that the movement of shields can also be remapped which would make up room on the numpad for weapons if you wanted it that way if your playing ICC... otherwise they can just leave it and use the leftover numpad keys to assign to weapons... ie: numpad keys 1,3,7,9....

edit: i noticed that a keyboard.map file is stored locally with your key maps... it would be nice if you could open it up in notepad and edit manually without having to login to a game...

why not get all possible commands in the mapping list and order it after navigation weapons etc ....

(you all know what to do)


key commands that should be on the mapping list:

center on target/ship
full zoom out
full zoom in
detonate mines
detonate bombs
self destruct

Allow a weapon to be mapped to more than one number key. Allows manual point defence (anti-beacons).

I have yet to have to opportunity to mess with the code on beta. Can you bind communication macros to certain keys?

I'll seocnd Gideon on the comms macros.

Also, a key to re-balance the shields would be nice. I can manually direct shield energy to fore/aft/port/starboard, but it'd be nice if there was a command to make all the facings equal. Add up the total amount of protection, and divide among all shields. Voila.

I suggested keyboard mapping several times, and mentioned it offhand in some other forums as well.

I also made a rather lengthy post about comm macros and the need for a better communications system.

Im thrilled that the mapping feature has finally been implemented, though i understand the delay as there are many other things that need worked on continuously.

Saddly, ive not been in beta for a bit now, and as have yet to check out this feature. Appreciate the effort nonetheless.
