I was messing around with Sketchup the other day for the first time in a while, sort of started an UGTO dread (I think). I'm gonna keep adding to it for a while and see if I finish it or (like most things I start, stories, models, songs etc) get halfway and stop.


What I have at the moment would be the top of the "head" section. So far it just resembles a giant fingernail. Placeholder panelling and textures.

Practise, Plug-ins and some advice from the guy who wrote the Jedi Knight games (seriously)

I've finished the underside of the head now, and put the two together with a little lip. Textures and panelling are still placeholders (to make the renders look nicer)

Looks nice as it is right now, actually, and that texture would look great on that model, just wouldn't fit a UGTO ship.

I'd like to see the finished ship, should look great given the progress so far

Looks pretty good so far. The front might be a teensy bit too pointy in comparison to other UGTO dreads, but I'm impressed all the same.

Cheers. I'm trying to go with the idea that this would be a newer class to replace the current dread (in-universe). I'm planning to make it a tad sleeker but at the same time "uglier".

I've finished the basic shape for the upper hull and done a couple of on-the-fly renders. I think I might make it a bit taller, it's a bit too flat at the moment.

From the top it would still make Freud spin in his grave.

You can see a play design I was toying with for a new UGTO dread but decided to scrap, loved the neck and head sections, but couldn't find a tail and wing look i liked for it. So add this one to the scrap pile...

Tael, why on earth would you scrap something that good?

Try just draping a shell over the midsection and it would look fine.

tael, that looks awesome, why scrap that?! yeah, just add an armor covering over the midsection, and it's fine. that looks really good.

That looks like a command dread to me, Tael.

As for Yimm's, it's a good start to a model. I like it.
