For who is interested in Kill Bobby Baconbeard Day and new player who loves challenging Pirate.

Here is the full layout of the Nautilus:
  • 1 IE Drive
  • 1 Hyper Mass Accelerator
  • 3 Fore Composite Armor
  • 3 Left Composite Armor
  • 3 Right Composite Armor
  • 3 Aft Composite Armor
  • 5 Harpex
  • 2 Fore, 2 Left, 2 Right, 2 Aft, 4 Fore-Right, 4 Fore-Left, 4 Left-Aft, 4 Right-Aft Wibble Cannon
  • 1 FRL, 1 FRA, 1 RLA, 1 FLA Ion Cannon
  • 2 Auxiliary Reactor
  • 1 Damage Control
  • 1 Repair Field
  • 2 Reload Drones
  • 1 Fore Dark Matter Cannon

As you can see, Nautilus has 0 laser. You either have 2 tactics:
  1. Stay out of IC range (1290gu) and spam missle.
  2. Stay within beam range (150gu) and burn it with laser.

Nautilus doesn't have raiding party gadget. It can't capture you.
The Dark Matter Cannon is an upgrade version of Death Beam. It clears approximately half of the structures (16/32) and disable the remaining structures.

Most of Nautilus' parts are ICC gadgets. It doesn't have singular ability of movement like MI. Wibble Cannon is Kinetic type. Hug it with dreads (UGTO albative, K'Luth chitin) & stations and it will die shortly. In Rogen Rift, just capture it with transport or attack it with beam cruiser. Stay inside harpex and wibble cannon range is the biggest mistake when approach Nautilus.

Pirate paty acts exactly like AI: all pirate party focus on one target and shoot raiding inf. So you will want to jump it with 11 inf station, then dread.

Except that the wibble cannon burns through armor and shields like nothing else.

Pretty much, they're OP cannons with shorter range. Get in gun range of it at your own peril.

Missile spam is really the best strategy against pirates.
You can use other stand-off techniques, but missiles are the best choice.

You really gotta watch out for those pirate torpedo frigates, they can drop an arc of armor in a single burst, and kill destroyers in one shot. (maybe 2)

Incorrect.

Firstly, the missisiles are useless if the pirates close range and once they do close range the wibble cannon on the station obliterates the laughable amount of armor on the missile dreads.

secondly, when the missile dreads get jumped in all likelyhood the still functioning interdictor ships will arrive with them rendering the missile dreads little more than sitting targets.

A better alternative in my view is to spam railguns which cannot be point defensed by anything have a range of 1200, and can be precision targetted using the ctrl click method so that the volleys hit one arch of the pirates.

A mix of railgun and missile attacks would be good.
If you have the players to spare (4 or so) have two missile dreads a good distance apart, with a combat dread by each one.

If one pair gets jumped and dictored, the other pair will be able to fire downrange onto the interdictors.

Any smaller ships that close in on the MD can be dealt with by the combat dread.
If prolonged firepower isn't important, the CD can use gauss guns to better hit the small pirate ships.

Oh yeah, and if K'Luth is helping, Ganglias would be just about unstoppable since they can just cloak if they are jumped.

Not sure if any of them are capable of dealing with bombardment from Shrouds and Harpex, as well as the main line combat ships that should be escorting the missile ships.

We know AI destroyer and cruiser have some talent of survive since they jump just before they die.

I spent days capturing Nautilus in Rogen and I could say I didn't see any cruiser nor cruiser survive when Nautilus decided to attack it. They couldn't jump in time.

Do NOT underestimate Nautilus. Its combination of missle & cannon is deadly. Although there is heavy wibble cannon, but wearing normal wibble is enough for a frigate to kill my engi in one shot, just like an alpha from assault destroyer.

Prepare to hide or jump away when Nautilus attack you.

if we all hide and jump we will never kill him. the alternative is to abandon your own safety and devote yourselves completely to slaughtering him regardless of your safety. Of course this assumes the age old Risk-Reward dynamic.

Yes. You'll get the best of both worlds, kill AND be killed. Except maybe without the kill part because Challenger is good at jumping.
