Been a while since i wrote one of these:

In these days of Dreadspace, its extremly difficult to fly anything smaller than a crusie to survive, let alone Effective in combat.

Today I offer a solution for those new to the game or Dread tired vets.

UGTO Harrier Frig: 6 Sparrow heavy Tier1 missiles and 3 ECM!!!
>_<

same Solvo power as a missile Dressy but invisble:
Deep Space
Sig @ 18.2 gu --> Negative 0.5
Deep Space Kaus (Central sysm in Meta)
Sig@ 18.2 gu --> Negative 6.6

Which mean u can run and fire full solvos, and still be at Negative sig.
Cool Huh?

I do remember engaging you in that frigate multiple times. all of them ended in you running for lack of ammo or in me killing you. So I would debate the usefullness of the harrier frigate as anything more than a harrassment tool.

but still if you want to use it then you can.

@Sherton most of the engagement we have yesterday were close by to ur friendly planet, where my ecm were less effective. had we been in deep space, u wouldnt have seen me or my missiles

but yes, there is a limit to what the harrier frig could do to ur ICC Combat Dread with out support.

however, u did have any idea how survivable that frig was compaired to other small ships ai or player, i hope.

actully you could see the missles...and tracing them back can find the source

but smaller ships generaly are more surivible provided you dont have a fool at the wheel

Harrier frigs just need an ammo buff, nothing too drastic but allows more prolonged harassment before your quick reload retreat to a nearby plat.

Not even that, just de-nerfing the T1 missiles and restoring them to the way they were originally would work wonders.

I was usually in frigate, it's good enough to survive.

And if you're in scout, you almost secure your life. BTW, you can die in scout without losing any prestige. So scout is actually the one and only class that only bring prestige.

Actually Frigates do that too.

Any ship you can spawn for free from a gate can die for free.

Just successfully completed a 3rd test of the Harrier frig in Kaus sector, kill 1 ICC player Heavy crusier ( claimed to be dycinc, cant confirm), hull a different ICC player HC to 18%hull before he ran under PD cover of a AD.

Both cases neither ships were able to PD my missile solvo on their own. Neither were able to actively target me runing @18.2gu at -6.6sig.

I had no AI suport other than calling a suppy to keep my ammo up.

Procced to engage Sherton's Combat dread ( who posted here), this time he was not able to PD most of my missiles, likely due to the nebula covering all of Kaus. deshield /dearmor him to 60%shield/70% armor before he kill my suppy and i ran out of ammo.

Overall evaluation:
moderately successfull under single-single ship engagment, able to hull ships upto Cruiser class with out supply.
I suspect it would be more difficlut with more AI in the area with their added PD and ECCM.

I do not recomend its use close to planets under 1500gu, missiles will be PDed.

Me and a few others teamed up with a squad of these things. I think it was like 4 of us?

We basically drove off everyone that showed their face.
We would spread out, and while one of us gets ambushed, the others jump in and sync fire, while the one that got closed on e-jumps a ways.

It got really irritating once a K'Luth Siphon showed up, though.
They just roam around under cover of cloak, we e-jump as soon as he starts to uncloak (still took massive damage... stupid lag) and the others start bombarding him, but he just cloaks straight away.

It's situations like that I wish we had a heavy torpedo frigate.
To hell with lasers, to hell with cannons, to hell with EWAR, just put all the points into forward arc torpedoes, then we'd have an actual low rank counter to those damned meat sacks.

i've noticed with missles in general you can't see them with out using a scanner,( human missles) yesterday i got attacked by mousey in SS he luanched harpex, and i wasn't able to see or PD the missles unless i had ai around me. now granted i was in a EAD which has no scanner or eccm which in that sense is a fail on my part.
