I was wondering if it would be possible to add a 3rd building drone to Command Stations, considering they mainly are behind-the-line Stations, and they would be a Tier III or II for those extra building drones. I was just thinking a Station that Colonizes planets should have more building drones than an engineer just to use the station to it's full potential. It would bring Command Stations more into the Metaverse and make their role even more important for repairing captured planets.

Stations are the odd child in that they don't really fit into the tier system and each faction is only going to have the 3 they have now, not seprated into tiers.

As for the Command Stations, they're only going to have a single build drone, while the top tier Engineer ships will be getting 3 build drones. This is done so that the single purpose engineer ships will still be the masters of construction and keep their usefulness even when players make it into the top ranks needed to field Command Stations.

Command Stations will be getting a new function though, and those are the Command Modules. These will be like the auras on the new Interdicters, although instead of hurting the enemy, the Command Modules on the Stations will give buffs to allies over wide areas.

So the new Command Stations will have:
-1 Build Drone gadget (Enough to build, not enough to overpower the single purpose engineers)
-Utility Beams (To mine for building, etc.)
-Fighters for long range defense
-A series of Command Modules to buff allies over massive areas.

To sum up: It's a jack of all trades ship, but not meant to be able to do everything super well.

Any chance of making Command Stations function as Shipyards?

Command Dreads will have Command Modules too, and they'll be used to buff allies. The difference will be that the Command modules on Dreads will be shorter range and more tactically minded. They are meant to lead ships into battles, and as such their Command Modules will only have the range to affect the immediate battle area, and their buffs will be the type that help ships in combat.

Command Modules on stations will be more strategically minded, giving buffs on the "behind the scenes" stats.
