I have checked the stickies, seen the vids and read older posts and I know how to and can refit some items, but it seems random as to what planet will allow you to refit an item.
The tech and resource levels are all there but the message I get is "Unable to refit ***" .
I have tried turning the device/engine off by clicking it but that makes no difference either seems.
Is it a rank requirement to refit certain items?

there's no rank requirement.
as long as the right resource are there, an there's enough tech on planet, and you're orbiting the planet, and the planet isnt under blockade, andthe item can be swapped with something else, you should be able to. barring any bugs (AMEs being one such)

So odd. So I try again today and the refits are working. Previous posts had suggested a desynch issue was the problem on certain servers. It's like Vodoo..

Being Desync can effect your refits.....I've run into that problem a couple of times already.
