i just got demoted by accident im new to this game and would like some tips on how to get promoted and the general game play thank you sooo much

Try to get in a group with bigger ships , they'll help you gain prestige. You lose prestige for friendly fire, dieing. Easiest way to start out is by being in a supply ship and repping other players. If your a UGTO player , I'll be on in a few so if you want I can help you out learn the basics.

P.S. slamming into planets is bad. LOL

You loose prestiege by loosing ships and friendly fire. Don't worry, this won't happen too much (unless you like smacking into planets).
Your best bet is to stick with your human teamates and do damage to the bigger ships while they're occupied with your teamate's bigger ships.
There is also a link the the manual in the left hand bar that contains alot of important informatinon.

in the begining get your supply ship and supply as much as you can you will help your allys while they give you prez for repairs and even after you rank up keep supplying so you will be well betond the rank threshold and wont get demoted you get the hang of it

1.dont run into planets
2.dont folow a.i s ever
3.make sure not run off after a lone kluth it may not be as alone as you think
4.work with your team mates
follow these tips and you should be okay(results may very)

The best way to gain prestige is not to lose it in the first place. And the single largest contribution to prestige loss is dieing. So don't.
How to go about that now well see, that would take paragraph upon paragraph. All I will say is that when you die enough, you learn how not to.
Just know this: The smaller the ship in, the much less prestige you lose in it. That simple.

Sorry not sure if it was said already, but if you look to the top of this forum topic (Under "Tactics & New Players") you will see a sticky topic at the very top called Darkspace Academy. There is some really useful things in there and some videos as well.
