well, i havent really been playing for too long, so i have some questions... i know some of these may be in the faq or manual, but i am looking for more in depth answers.
1: how big is space in this game?
2: are there any things like pulsars, quasars, binary stars, black holes, etc?
\\
\ \3: if so, how rare are they?
4: if not, will they be added sometime soon?
and, i will probably have more questions later, but that is all for now.

What would a pulsar, quasar, black hole or binary star actually do for you?
Just wondering what the reasoning behind the questioning is.

Wopuld be kl to have a hidnt system, one out of maybe 100 people who got sucked into the blackhole would ever reach it...
would be rather epic, noone else would ever know
gaifen hive? or something similiar?
something bristling with alien life no doubt... with a redish purple nebula near a sun.

Having a black hole somewhere would be interesting.
Depending on the distance from the black hole, you would be pulled in at increasing speeds, and would need to power away from it. The nearer you got, the more power you would need just to get away... to the point where the pull would be so great that regardless of thrust applied, you would be inexorably sucked in and put through the grand cosmic garbage compactor.
Besides that, a black hole could disrupt jumps and cloak.
Well.... I'm just babbling. Knowing the amount of work it would take.....
LOL

But i like the idea ... flying in a dessi at the egde of a black-hole area luring dreads into its gravity field. and than combating closer and closer to the core until the dread player turns around to not get sucked in (and than you just stay on his end and hit him hard.
or him being stupid and retreating a bit too late, so that you can see hsi dread being turned into little pieces of scrap metal/ organic waste
* small visual core
* large hitbox
* very very large gravity area (with falloff)
* missile/fighters can't be used in the higher gravity area
* scanners, ecm, eccm and cloak not working
* "draws away" ICC Shield power (sucking the loose energy away), the closer the stronger
* reduces turn-rate of al ship (with falloff) further away normal, the closer the lower the turnrate will be (to a minium of 1)
* If you fly towrads the core the gravity will speed up your ship and if you go over its maximum speed t will slowly damage your engines (the closer the faster your speed up)

The last time someone did a crossing of the metaverse in a scout, the time taken was measured in days, if memory serves.

well about the size, cant say for sure.
Depending on the route you take or the ship you are using, it could take anywhere from several hours or a few Days to fully explore every System.
Combat could slow you down, maybe a few Minutes or so. Even running into a Dictor Field can put a stop to your Trip.
Not to mention that if your Tachyon Drive goes out, could take longer if a Supply Ship doesnt get to you in time. If your looking to explore, have fun and enjoy yourself. But make sure to stop by a Depot every now and then.
P.S. Six did i ever tell you that your Signature Scares me sometimes O.o lol [ This Message was edited by: Wolfex on 2010-08-18 07:12 ]

Without. With, I'm not sure, since you run out of fuel first.

if memory serves, with the old star models making a pulsar was possible: one large star with a smaller star in a fast orbit around it. i think this is what luyten was originally.
however, with the new star models pulsars have been removed.

Isn't one end of a wormhole supposed to be a black hole?

LOL. We're talking DS physics here.
Otherwise most stations trying to get out of a dico field would look like Oscar the Grouch's humble abode by now.
