Grouping Is now a feature available in DarkSpace: Beta

Groups are formed by players, any one person in a group will share some of their prestige with others in the group.

F.A.Q.
How many players can I have in my group?
Players can form a group of up to 8 MEMBERS..

How are groups managed?
Group Leaders have the job of inviting members and managing their group, there can be as many Group Leaders as you wish, within the limit of 8 members.

How will prestige be shared amongst the group?
Prestige will be shared per statistic, for each full statistic earned, 1/3rd of that statistic is applied to each member of the group.


Will negative statistics also affect my group?
Yes, Friendly Fire, Resources Lost, and any other form of negative prestige will be shared with your group, same as any positive statistic.

I lost you on the statistic part, able to provide a few situation examples to make it more clear?

For I'm guessing flying in an utility ship like an Interdictor or ECCM/ECM vessel holding back at a save distance will not cut you in on any prestige.

By Statistic means you will gain Ships Damage pres (combat pres) if you are in a dico or recon scout. So you dealing the damage will gain normal pres, and everyone else in the group will gain 1/3rd pres.

So if someone is building you (who is in combat) will gain building pres while the builder will gain combat pres.

This also works in reverse as well, if you die in combat from say losing a MD (120 pres loss). Everyone in the group will lose 40 pres for the death. Same with mass scraping of a planet, the scrapper will lose full pres, and everyone else 1/3rd.

Actually, I was told it's shared evenly among all members.

If you have a group of 3 members, and someone gains 30 prestige, it's shared among the members...

So 30/3, which means each member gets 10. As an incentive to group, this is multiplied by 1.1, so you actually get 11 prestige per person.

With a group of eight, if someone earns 30 prestige you get (30/8)x1.1.

I've no idea whether it amplifies prestige loss, although I can say that blowing up a Sector Command Base on someone in your group of two knocks them down 200 prestige.

It's not a new idea, but IIRC it was scrapped the first time around due to abuse. It was a wonderful thing for people flying support though.

Last I heard, the pres gain was translated into bonus pres, so you'd gain prestige but no stats for medals.

But then, the last time I tested it the prestige-sharing thing wasn't working at all, so don't quote me on that.

One wonders where Jbud's getting his information from, incidentally.

This would HIGHLY encourge interdictors/extractors. Also good for ecm bombing groups

Stats are split evenly among all members of the group... so if you have 5 members, and someone jumps, everyone get's 0.2 (1 / 5) Jumps added to their profile.

We also apply a small bonus to all stat gains for now.. subject to change by developers.

Will there be a seperate colour for people within ur group talking? say blue like target chat but darker??

as reading thru a chat spam for a specific persons orders aint fun. but if its a dark blue against a wave of green u can glance up at the corner and find it instantly.

i would suggest this is implemented.
we have all had noob chat spams before.

the whole look at me, im reping u stay still blah blah. among others.

Thanks for the added information.
At least now I know that when I'm flying in an interdictor doing nothing except suppling the interdictor field trapping enemies from escaping and preventing my allies from getting point jumped, I know I will be gaining prestige form the activities from my team mates who are very likely will be doing all the killing
