Well there are many ways of gaining prestige.
-Bombing
-Supplying
-Combat
-Scouting
-Engineering
-Faster Than Light Jumping (The Navigator Badge)
-Kamikaze
-Planet Capturing
-Ship Capturing
I may have missed out some I cannot remember all of them.
But the main ones are Bombing, Supplying, Combat and Engineering.
I have had people ask me how do I gain prestige well there are lots of ways. And I have just listed the few I can remember. So get to battle stations and start your quest. Because: Infinity has just begun...

thats how you gain pret, yes but in terms of badges, Engi and Tranny is as much needed...
god do i hate Tranny badges, why wasn't the planet cpa poitn splited at least among those who dropped inf for capture

Quick! Somebody copy his whole post in a quote and thus perpetuate the slaughter of the spelling faeries.....
At any rate, planet caps, the tranny badge, are the easiest to get in the scens. Always planets there to cap, and if not, wait an hour or two.
TBH, almost every badge with the exception of repairing is probably acquired easier in the scens than in the MV.
Combat - more AI and lower ranked players in Scen.
Planet capturing and bombing - Weakest planets and unbuilt/halfbuilt planets are in scens.
Scouting - This one is easy to get anywhere except in Sag as a K'Luth. K'Luth have to go to the human factions to get these, because beacons are pointless for Kluth to use vs humans.
The last main stat line would be construction, and for all the reasons that bombing and capping are easiest in Scens, the same is true for construction.
Also, you get the small bump up (tho much bigger than days of old) in bonus prestige for winning a scenario. This is not acquirable in Sag except from some type of a reward coupon, etc.
So if you are new, your best bet is to learn to suck in the scens. Then when you think you have the game down, you should have decent rank to go with it. Then you can come embarrass yourself (or others, if you are a prodigy) in Sag and survive more than 2 mins in a battle.
