but i cant earn credits by selling/giving resources to a planet right?

Back in the day, yes but with the reform, not now since they are the only source of income DS really has.
People normally reward good team/work or people going out of their way with credits.

I have given away about 50k credits so far(cutting back now that I have learned I like suicide missions)..
One thing I would like to see is some more(and productive, where it actually benefits ds) contests with credit rewards  for those that cannot afford credits, and those with a lot of time on their hands to put effort into contest entries..

Competitions and events sometimes have credits as an award as well.

ds needs to find some other ways to make money for the servers not everyone going to want credits. they should add like special upgrades that you can only purchase special paint jobs for ships stuff like that alot of free games do that and are older then darkspace so darkspace should be able to do it

Resources have no monitary value thay are only used to make platforms build ships on sy planets and a few other misc uses.
