Upgrading Your Ship
-----------------------------------
Upgrading your ship is rather simple. You simply find a friendly planet (Green), and Orbit it (Press the O button). To Find a Friendly planet, you can press F2, to open up a navigations map. Click on the friendly planet and press O to orbit. Now, when your in orbit, right click the desired item you wish to upgrade. You will see a dollar sign in the bottom right corner of the screen. Pressing this will upgrade the item to the next level. To get the money needed to mod, I suggest you spend a few mining a planet. To do this, you need an Extractor. These ships are made just to mine. Now, orbit a friendly planet (doesn't have to be, but safer)and press M. This will activate the mining beams. Now, Once your cargo is full, you need to find a starport (Ctrl+P). Orbit the planet it's on, and press U. This will sell the minerals to the starport, and give you credits for it. You can probably ask players for credits too, there are a few willing to help out.
------------------------------------
Modding Your Ship - Admiral and Newbie Servers
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay. Most of the time, you will not find a Mod Planet (Planet Made with Multiple Factories and a Starport, Constantly Producing Weapons/Items.)
in these servers. So, you need to get torpedoes, cannons, and auxiliary gens on your ship? You can do this by a process known as Gate Modding. This is simply spawning a ship, taking the needed items off it, heading back into the gate, and then putting the needed items onto your ship. This is an effective way to get a powerful ship in the Admiral and Newbie Servers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combat - Admiral and Newbie Servers
-----------------------------------------------------------
This is where you learn the basics. You'll rarely see a ship that can deal amazing firepower. Here, you will mainly find Scouts, Frigates , Engineers , and the Occasional Destroyer. Combat here is rather simple, Dodge fire and return it. The best strategy is to make a zig zag with your ship, left to right and right to left, etc. You'll be able to avoid a lot more fire this way. Fighting a Scout can be a bit tough, but if you manage to land a few good hits on it, you'll be able to kill it, or make it run.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Bombing - Admiral and Newbie Servers
-----------------------------------------------------------
Okay. This is rather simple too.. To bomb, you need a ship made to bomb! (Bomber Scouts, Bomber Frigates, Harrier Frigate(UGTO), Bomber Destroyer(ICC). Now, it's best to have infantry here.. So, Orbit a Friendly planet, upgrade your ship, Press F3 to look at the Buildings/Infantry on the Planet and then click on an infantry and press U. You can tap U a few times, you'll load your cargo with infantry. Now! Since your bombs are now upgraded to level two, they go 16gu. Target your enemy planet you wish to bomb, and get to 16gu. You can do this by clicking on the speedometer (you'll notice it when you speed up/slow down) or by pressing the Up Arrow and Down Arrow buttons. Now, once your up to speed, jump to the planet. You'll be able to cover your bombs this way. Once you've reached the planet, start sending out bombs! You can also target buildings/infantry on the planet if your close enough, and bomb them.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Building - Admiral and Newbie Servers
-----------------------------------------------------------
Now, We're getting into complicated things. You need the rank of Ensign(40 Prestige), and an Engineer Ship to build. Now, their is a patter to building.. You need a Colony Hub first, then two-three domes to get the population habitat. You can then build a starport, and two mines (this will help you with gathering resouces). Next, build two Barracks (This will get you some Infantry to use) Now, You've got Population, Resources, and Infantry stocking up. Next you need Research, to do this, build a Research Lab (These can take up a bit of your resources, but it's worth it.). Once your have Population, Resources, Infantry, and Technology building up, your doing good. From here, it's mainly up to you and your teammates on what to build. (Shipyard Planets, Infantry Planets, Defense Planets, or Resource Planets)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Modding Your Ship - Metaverse
------------------------------------------------------
Okay. You will find a Mod Planet (Planet Made with Multiple Factories and a Starport, Constantly Producing Weapons/Items.) here. Okay.. Having a hard time finding it ,eh? Don't be Shy, Ask your faction mates where the Mod Planet is, Im sure they will be willing to help out. Now, You'll find a lot of items here in these Mod Planets, which these have been stocked up for days on end, to aid the faction in the Metaverse. Take your choice of what your ship needs (Always a good Idea to ask others what a good setup for your ship is)
------------------------------------------------------
Combat - Metaverse
------------------------------------
This is the Big Leagues, there the Dreadnoughts and Cruisers play. Here, you will find a wide variety of ships. Ranging from Destroyers to Stations. This means combat a lot more harder, but don't worry, you can work your way out of it! If your new, that means you will usually be the smaller ship in the battle. This isn't always a bad thing, remember the old karate movies where they talk about the bigger opponent having much more strength, but you can use it against em, right? You can use that here. Being the smaller ship, your are a lot more agile and quicker. Use the Zig Zag tactic here, but do it from 500-600gu out, never get to close to a Dreadnought, their beams can do tons of damage to your ship. Cruisers are a bit safer to get close to, but keep a distance. You can also dodge their weapons a lot better then they can yours, use that to your advantage too.
------------------------------------
Bombing - Metaverse
-------------------------------------
Okay. Now, it's best to have infantry here.. So, Orbit a Friendly planet, upgrade your ship, Press F3 to look at the Buildings/Infantry on the Planet and then click on an infantry and press U. You can tap U a few times, you'll load your cargo with infantry. Now! Since your bombs are now upgraded, you need to figure out the speed. To do this, simply add .5gu to the base speed of the bomb(15gu) for each level it is upgraded..(Level 2 - 16gu, level 4 - 17gu,etc). Be careful though! These planets are built with heavy defense bases, making it hard for you to get close to them. Do not worry though, there are ways to get around this! For UGTO Defense and K'luth defense, it's best not to get close to the planet unless your in a dread, due to their strong planetary beams. You can turn away form your bombs at around 500gu. Of course, some of your bombs will be taken out, but most will survive. For ICC, you can guard your bombs until you are close to the planet, just do not turn to early, or all your bombs will be picked off. You can also target buildings/infantry on the planet if your close enough, and bomb them if the population is to low to support defense bases.
-------------------------------------
Building - Metaverse
-----------------------------------
Now, We're getting into complicated things. You need the rank of Ensign(40 Prestige), and an Engineer Ship to build. Now, their is a patter to building. I'll give you a few patterns to start with, which work for all factions.
Barren Planets - 1. Start with the Colony Hub 2. Add Six Domes 3. Add Two Hyro Farms 4. Add One Generator 5. Add Four Hyrdro Farms 6. Add Two - Four Barracks 7. Add Six Research Labs. From there on, you can discuss what to do with the planet with your faction.
Terran Planets - 1. Start with a Colony Hub 2. Add how many domes it takes to get to 80 Population. 3. Add how many Hydro Farms it takes to get to 80 Food 4. Add one Generator 5. Add Two - Four Barracks 6. Add Seven Research Labs. From there on, You can discuss what to do with the planet with your faction.
-----------------------------------
I Hope this Helps a few people.

You missed "[" and "]". They decrease/increase radar range.
Oh, and "V". Flux, certain UGTO ships only.

Er, this guide is somewhat out of date, these days. Have we actually got an updated version of this hanging around somewhere?
