I don't think a bunch of 15 second clips put together with some rocking guitar/pop music is going to win any awards or any new players.

15-20 seconds is enough time to create a decent intro.
Edit: Should read "15-20 seconds is a good intro time limit."
However the lack of sounds would really hamper the "shock impact" of the video. To create a really good intro, sound is a must. Every great intro video I've ever seen has both video and audio stimulation. It just makes a bigger impact on the viewer.
You get the "omgz0r that clip was badarse, lemme in teh game now!!!!111oneoneelevelnz0r!!11!!" effect. Like the intro Q3 had when you launched the game.

Why not? Could it hurt anything?

first thing ill do in the config.ini
"Intro=1" to "Intro=0"
But the idea is nice, modernday gamers (idiots) like eyecandy.
However this 2 minute would be more of a nice movie to draw people to darkspace not put it in darkspace (other than as a download) but a 15 to 20 second intro for the main screen would be a nice addition to the eyecandy store.
p.s.
who actualy uses darkspace.exe as a shortcut, first thing i do afther installing is change the shortcut to gcql.exe
