This is a persistent issue I've been experiencing recently; I've tried changing a few graphics settings but nothing seems to have worked and it happens in both release and Beta versions.

The cursor (resembles <| |>) for the velocity and heading bars doesn't show up for me at all and makes adjusting both quite difficult to judge.

From the screenshot, you can see my ship is turning to the right and the heading indicator shows that too, however no cursor appears.

The only instance where it does appear is when mousing over the bars.

That happened to me once.
The solution it was alt + ( ??? key )
I do not remember which key.
I hope somebody remember which is.
It is a very annoying problem and prevents play normally.

try alt+Y, it toggles yaw settings (turning) between fixed heading and fixed turnrate.

or press numpad 1 to toggle indicator display

do you use QWASD keys for flying? or combo of arrow keys and mouse?

what cursor are u talking about? i dont see any problems with ur view, u see enemy diamonds and urself, and the green thingy show ur direction.

the manual cursor to fire at where u aim at, is with ctrl button. Otherwise, i have no idea what cursor you mean, pressing / couple of times changes some things but that about it.

i also still see the bars where u can click on to adjust heasding and movement speed

There is little triangles on the speed and velocity bars. With those gone it is difficult to tell where your speed is. That is what he is talking about, he doesn't have them.

Alt+Y didn't seem to help. I sometimes use QWASD, sometimes arrow keys, problem persists with both.

As Waffle said, second sentence in the OP.

What I dont see are the littile yellow (speed) and green (turn) triangles on the bars...THOSE should be present. The <] [> should only appear when you mouse over anywy.

Ah, yes. That's what I meant. It's been a few months since I last got the chance to play and got mixed up with the mouse-over graphic. Mea culpa.
