Due to a recent issue brought up by a player,

I'd like to remind players that GCQL needs admin permissions to update properly. So check your installation path if something isn't working after installation.

You can either set the permissions manually or install GCQL in a directory that is not C:\Program Files.

There is a thread about this around here somewhere, I don't want to dig it up. If you're fairly competent with your computer (read: can turn it on and roll your face across the keyboard with some precision) it is possible get rid of the UAC forever. Do the following:

1. Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Right click on Command Prompt and choose "Run As Administrator"

2. Type: net user administrator /active:yes
Google the net user command if you want to do some other formatting to this user beforehand.

3. Login as the newly available "Administrator" user

Yes, there are ways to turn off UAC and yes there are reg hacks to fix it and yes you can modify group policy to make it escalate silently and not as often. I've found the above way to be the fastest and easiest. Quite literally 30 seconds of no-effort work.

The other way $yTHe {C?} mentioned is Start - Control Panel - User Accounts - Change User Account Control Settings and move the slider down to never notify.
