Heya everyone, long time no see.
I was going through my emails and stumbled across a few old 2005 emails, and thought oooh id like to play that again, so i did the forgot password and got my account details resent to me, then i logged in and got a subscription but... i have 0 prestige... and my account said it was created in 2006 :S when these emails about my account are dated "07 August 2005 02:09:34"
is there any chance i could get my old account back? i was ranked Admiral last time i recalled because i would like to enjoy the game again but would really not like to start at 0 prestige. i have all the original emails of my other older account stored in my hotmail. dont know how this one was made in 2006. :S
thanks guys,
Costas.

I have also had the same problem. I remember playing far before 2006, saw an ad for a game that reminded me of Dark Space, came back and I have no prestige or rank.

You're going to have to be a lot more specific and give us a few more clues.
Generally, talking to both users in the thread, the staff is not in a position to know who owns a given account other than possibly our own individual experience from playing. It has always been policy that individual players are responsible for the security of their own login information.
You do know that if you still own the email address that's associated to the username...and if it's validated...you can send yourself a new password. In the past, this has been the usual practice.
You have to understand our concerns. What if somebody were to assert ownership of account X. How can we validate that except with the personal identifying information associated with the account. We run the risk of mistakes and facilitating the acquisition of accounts.
This is not our final position but it is the beginning of the our conversation internally as we consider this and other similar requests. [ This Message was edited by: Nax on 2009-10-14 18:19 ]
