i have broad band internet with charter pipeline and it's for the most part fine. The problem i'm having is that for some reason whenever i log into ds it's like setting a timer on my connection. For like the last month i've been getting disconnected everytime i play for more than like 20 minutes. At first i thought it was a server problem but now i think it's a problem with my modem b/c everytime it happens the cable light starts flashing. I'll hit the repair button and i'll get the error message "cannot renew ip address". This mainly only occurs when i'm playing and not when i'm just browseing the internet. Can anyone help me out here?

The only time I have seen similar things happen is with software based modems. The best suggestion I can give right now is to make sure you have the latest manufacturer drivers for your connected hardware.

If you care to provide the model of the hardware unit and the current operating system, I can take a peek around the net for you and see if anyone is experiencing similar issues and if they have resolved them. It is also possible that if your modem has a built in router/firewall there may be some setup conflict that is causing this problem.

Has your ISP implemented new procedures for broadband connection where you have to run a keep-alive program on your computer which regularly sends an update to their servers so they know the connection is active?

Have you called the support desk of your ISP and asking them about it?
