So even though DarkSpace development is "Open Source" and the details would need to be disclosed in order to continue to keep the platform secure, we can't be told the details; in order to protect us from whatever security issue this was... for our "protection". From a supposedly fixed security issue.
I am skeptical of this statement by the DarkSpace Staff.
Sounds like the same old moral superiority complex those that ran darkspace before continue; and why it has stooped to the point that almost no one logs in or plays the game.
Put your ego's aside and just tell us straight; this is what was wrong, this is what we fixed and for any developers pushing code don't do this.
Sorry if this comes off harsh, but when I was younger trying to help out with anything I could get my hands on to help with back in the day. I only met extremely hostile and rude responses to my attempts; I have little sympathy, to tone my comments to this reaction and statement.
So as per the usual, DarkSpace is kinda one thing but kinda another. You can't be both, it is either Open Source or it's not.
I never felt welcome in this community and over the years I just keep my eye on it and laugh; and yup all this is because of how you treat younger, curious and in my case autistic new players, instead telling me to go get psychological help and basically to go away; because I was being difficult.
You all were for lack of me being able to swear, turds to me and you should've treated others interested in your shared interests and hobbies better.
It would have meant the world to me back then for you instead of ostercising me for putting up “Unofficial Servers” and “Spreading” the already thin community onto more servers; would have taken what I was up to into consideration...
the best part. After you took away the ability for me to host servers of my own and spawn AI ships into them and edit them; you then a year or two later I think did EXACTLY What you told me you guys didn't like me doing in order to "fill the gap" in the lack of players.
the general conscious I was getting in PM’s was that my servers were fun, refreshing and interesting… What you, the darkspace staff do to me when I was doing this… put me down, tell me to stop; got mad and in some cases banned me because I was annoyed and was friends with GothThug… yeah you guys were words I cannot describe or say to him too.
I have been quiet for years about this but I figured now that I am 28 and have got help to learn how to socialize better and understand how people communicate better; I had to write this as a bid to my old memories that haunt me. I am sad that I was not allowed to help this community stay alive and that my actions of trying to help in any way I could at the time was met with distaste, scolding and humiliation.

Hi DarkSpin,
You should not mistake the open sourced nature of the game engine, code, logic, assets, and so on, with the platform/systems that compiled code is executed on. Please refer back to the data breach announcement for all available details - as noted, we will not be commenting on the vector of attack.
In regards to the second part of your message - the staff here have explained why we ceased the ability to run third-party servers by all. This was not a targetted attack on your person, and to avoid continued beatings of a well and truly dead horse at this point, will leave it at that.
Regards,
