I know someone who got a brand spanking new Surface pro,
It is a nice machine and the ability to use windows 8 with an i5 processor but they have already had to exchange it on guarantee once due to hardware problems, The replacement machine has also had 'light' Blue screen of death issues and seems to have a chronic overheating problem, the back panel gets extremely hot at times, and that was just running a browser. The person who owns it is not even a long time computer user.
All these problems may be due to a bad batch but it was bought from John Lewis, a respectable UK company with full cover.
The touchscreen is ok but the screen is smallish and fingers may prove awkward on the DS interface. It has a stylus and that works fine. The keyboard is a great feautre and works nice but am unsure how durable it will be to repeated alphas! : P
Mouse as extra would be a must as response and precision are important factors.
DS on it would definately look nice and be fine for casual playing I would imagine but efficient combat may prove problematic. It only has one usb port so you really would need a hub for other peripherals.
These are just a few impressions I have had. I do like the machine as a portable pc/tablet but am unsure how well it would run as a workhorse for serious Piloting or running heavy programs. The person who owns it uses it mainly for browsing, portable pc use and word processing, all of which it handles fine aside from the overheating problem where it simply goes blank screen and turns off.
My advice is don't take my word for it, check it out yourself, go to a shop where you can handle one and get a feel for it running some programs then 'goog' up on 'Surface Pro issues' and take it from there.
Whatever you do wish you the best.
Orkan Out.

Do not get the Surface RT. If you buy a Surface, make sure it has an Intel CPU and full windows. Otherwise DarkSpace will not work. Recommend the Surface Pro or Pro 2.
I have a Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro (Competitor to the Surface Pro) It's an awesome machine and runs DS like nothing.
Resist the urge to use the touch screen, DS is not ready for such a thing.

@DiepLuc
It has a real keyboard that clicks on and a USB 3.0 port for a mouse. DOH! [ This Message was edited by: Psychosis on 2013-12-10 14:24 ]
