Dont know about you guys but to be able to hear the full range of sfx this game has to offer i have to zoom right in, obviously you cant play whilst fully zoomed in so was wondering if anything can be done.
SFX on 100% in settings btw.
Cheers

well if it was independant on range u would hear a lotta station beeps an engines roar. can feel swamped....
Best thing i can come up with is a button to increase range of sounds recieved. like the [ and ] decrease/increase scanner range, { and } could be implemented to adjust range of stuff that makes sound, to play on your speakers.
other then that..it gives a sence of god view, the fading sound at distance. gives u a feeling that u watch the station from outside, instead of being inside it.
maybe link the code that fade sounds at interval steps depending on zoom distance to an option in setup called "sound fading", where if u tick the box sounds fade at distance, and if u dont tick the box sounds do not fade at distance, thus skiping that part of the game code. (if tickbox(bladiebla) is yes then bla, elseif blabla then bla.)

Sounds like a good idea if thats possible.
Just thought it would be good to be able to hear jump drives, qst's, cannons, missiles etc being fired from the ship from any playable distance

I'd be fine with just being able to hear the SFX from my own ship without having to zoom in all the way.

Sounds lovely, but maybe instead a button in the options that allows sound to play at a flat level regardless of camera distance and then just adjust the volume from there.

Make sure your speaker config is setup correctly in Windows. I had issues for a year with many games until I realised I was using 5.1 instead of stereo.

I mainly use TurtleBeach PX21 but i also use desktop speakers sometimes.
I dont think the issue is anything to do with the settings although in some cases it might. I do think however that this is how the game has been made but imo its a negative and the sfx of your own ship should be heard from no matter what distance whether zoomed in or out

| What pantheon means is.
Check if you have the correct settings, especially when you use headphones or 2.1
I myself use headphones and 2.1 speaker sets. I to have once found out what pantheon found. If windows config is 5.1 and you only using 2.1, you will miss sound as that sound is being send to speakers that are not attached..
But the sound is scaled how far the camera is away from that sound.
If you are close up on your ship you will hear its engines, and general sounds (chatter).
Same with getting hit and explosions.
The drawback i personally find is that while i would love to hear direct hits to my hull. i don't really want to hear that fighter that just passed by my camera.
