Our server is at it's new home, and hopefully you will see an improvement in speed and ping times.

Using pingtest.net and speedtest.net
Darkspace server is in Leland, NC. There is no testing server in Leland. You have to pick Wilson, NC or Conway, SC with speedtest; Columbia, SC with pingtest. The result might not reflect the true speed to darkspace server; but with international players - whose packet travels oversea - neighbourhood region speed can give a clue.

Obviously, you can open CMD and ping darkspace.net manually. But I didn't ping darkspace when it was in LA so I couldn't remember.

When DS is in LA, my line grade was D, jitter 10ms. Now DS is in NC, my line grade is C, jitter 1ms. Much better I can tell.

How about yours?

Server is in Virginia:

"RocketVPS is a subsidary of KnownHost LLC, a privately held professional web hosting company founded outside Washington DC. All RocketVPS technology and support is centered around our state of the art data center in Virginia which features Premium Bandwidth such as Level 3, Savvis, Global Crossing, Tinet, Abovenet and Limelight CDN. With quality uptime, OpenVZ Technology, and high performance hosting being our core focus we continue to be one of the most recognized hosts in the world."

judging by the download speed, it goes really fast(250kbyte/sec) when the download is initialized but appears to slow down to about 70kbyte - 60 kbyte. havent tested for ping or anything, but thatshould be in the 190-250 range.

Edit: speed is still slowly ticking down. When will it stoooooopp.

when i got on this morning i was thinking "Woah, new darkspace server, finally it might utilise my 12mbit line!".

darkspace.net will work as a ping test instead of typing the IP - but the server is infact in Virginia.

average 367 from australia.
Also getting a couple timeouts too.

Packets: Sent = 99, Received = 96, lost = 3 (3% loss),
Aproximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 253ms, Maximum = 467ms, Average = 366ms

EDIT:

did some futher testing with a larger sample -

Packets: Sent = 1880, Received = 1829, lost = 51 (3% loss),
Aproximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 253ms, Maximum = 646ms, Average = 376ms

That timeout isn't going to be on the servers end, and is more than likely from your ISP.
