Let's see if I understand.

Kluth is not, nor will be, touched by "Mi" and only a little by "Pirates".

There are only improvements to the ships "Kluth" and "ICC"

Specially for the kluth, but his ships have the cloacking device.

Therefore, better weapons with cloacking device, practicly make invincible the kluth.

So, the future of MetaVerse is:

- "UGTO" will dissapear
- "ICC" is no match for improved Kluth.
- We all will switch to Kluth and becomes a clan war inside the Kluth empire.

I rather think ICC will disappear, not ugto.
because ugto ships are easier to play and if worst case scenario happens, they can just hug a depot planet

UGTO has armors and depot rocks.

Kluth have cloak and ahr and depot rocks.

ICC have....oh yeah shields...and....hmmm....

Yeah Ima say it would be ICC to disappear. Oh wait! It is already!

If you cant fly a UGTO ship, you are an idiot. Point and click was never easier in a game. There is virtually NO skill needed to fly as UGTO.

K'Luth only require a marginal amount of skill. It didn't used to be that way, but it sure is now. Know how to manage energy and sig, and when to uncloak, cloak, or jump out. That's about all you need to know.

The biggest issue with ICC is that everything they do can be easily countered by the other two factions. ICC shoots missles or fighters, UGTO has ablative and PD and 5 shrooms. K'Luth just cloak. What is your MD doing now? sitting and spinning....and waiting to get whacked.

Sit at a depot rock like UGTO and K'Luth and see what happens. It'll make you rage quit when you compare it to the luth and UGTO survivability. 10 depots can indefinately heal a UGTO or Luth dread vs 3-4 others of the equivelant class. One dread can take out any ICC station or dread trying to ride the depots the same. I'm not sure why the ICC dread doesn't seem to last longer, but the station's failure is obvious; one armor, wrapped 360 degrees. You can only shunt so much energy around. So you lose.

But sure, ok. I'm sure UGTO has it bad in SOME universe. It's just not DS'

What? Where do you get these ideas?

First, the AI are not designed to ignore or focus on any particular faction. If they're behaving oddly, such as always transiting through a particular system (as was pointed out elsewhere), we can try to fix that by looking at their logic for determining targets. There is no intent to single out any faction.

Second, the ship design is meant to rebalance every faction, improving weak ships, balancing others into their role, and better carving out niches and specialties for every ship. I don't think there's been any indication either from comments made by staff or changes made to factions that indicate we have an intent to elevate ICC and especially Kluth above anyone else.

I'm not sure what evidence you're basing your assertions on, but I don't agree with the conclusions you've drawn. There's certainly no concerted attempt to favor any faction or system.

Also, "because the devs love the luth faction" is amusing, since we get accused of loving the other two just as often. You just need to listen to different people and you'll hear different biases..

@1: Why?
@2: "Improved"? K'Luth has yet to change its 'core' tactics; also, ICC is comparatively difficult to play and currently lacks love from the majority of the player population.
@3: Why?

and since when have MI/Pirates affected factional balance...

This.

Assertions are worthless without backing evidence. Don't expect people to listen to you (and this applies anywhere) without evidence and reasoning that proves what you're asserting is true.

UGTO disappear? Well I'm sure some will ragequit when the broken repair rates from depots are fixed, but I'd imagine there's several diehard shroomers who will learn to adapt to some actual strategy apart from "spawn station, select depot planet, hit O, target enemy ship and rapidly press the spacebar". As much as people like to joke (or complain, or flame, etc.) about shroom spam and depot camping, UGTO does have some good players who can and do use other ships effectively and I don't see the faction as a whole turning into anything like the ghost town that ICC currently is.

I <3 the UGTO bashing about depots.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Every faction depo hugs on the defensive. Period.

They all have their own way of doing it.

UGTO: High armor.
ICC: Missile spam.
Kluth: Cloak to repair near depo without enemies shooting you. Decloak when fully repped.

This is all utterly pointless. The factions wont disappear, read in the development log, not what people who are neither developers nor moderators post in the forums.

With numerical superiority, sure, all 3 factions can camp at a depot planet and drive off an attacking force, but when the attackers outnumber the defenders? Well, let's see.

ICC camping at a depot planet to missile spam with MD/SS get rushed and are either killed or chased away because missile ships are useless up close.

Kluth camping at a depot planet get straight up ignored if they cloak while the enemy moves in, then get pulverized after being pinged or decloaking to attack.

UGTO camping at a depot planet (unless outnumbered by a ludicrous amount like 10 to 1) just sit in place and rotate while tanking the damage if they're in a shroom, or park ontop of a shroom to repair if they're in something else.

If you still don't understand why it's an issue then I invite you to play one of the other factions for a while and experience what it's like when you're on the other end of UGTO depot camping.

I dont understand why if people know that UGTO at a depot planet are so strong... still attempt to attack them at said planets.

Move to another planet... which... if the UGTO is just depot hugging they won't be at. And cap without resistance. Plus then the UGTO may actually leave the depot to come defend, and engage you.

Diversonary tactics? Flanking?

OMG Say it ain't so.

/facepalm
How many times have I stated that I have a non-UGTO alt?
1. Rushing in to hit missile ships hurts. Enough for a combat/assault dread to finish anyone that comes into close range. Combined arms. Can fall to clever attacks.

2. 2 luth stations. A is being attacked and is almost dieing. It cloaks and reps to 100 in no time. B meanwhile has lost some hull, so it fights for a bit more then proceeds to cloak. Rinse repeat. Can fall to sheer firepower forcing 2 or more ships needing mass repairs at once.

3. UGTO smacks anything that gets into QST range. You're ICC. Why are you in QST range? Luth can also snipe using core weapons, krills with range enh have been here for a while. In other words, can fall to smart tactics, mainly out-ranging as unlike kluth, we can't cloak back to the depo should we get hit.

As I said, when the defenders outnumber the attackers, yes, they can hold them off. Missile ships can't do squat but run when outnumbered, yes the planet's Interdictor field stops someone from jumping ontop of them but the 10 seconds or so it takes to fly to them after being stopped means nothing. Having an AD as escort doesn't mean much when there's 3 or more of them to every 1 of you.

Kluth stations, like any other stations, are big and very slow, making them easily blindfired when they cloak. Outnumbered 4 or 5 to 1 they're forced to fall back or die, period.

Stay out of QST range? QST can be fired past 1200 GU without any kind of range enhancements apparently due to some bug/glitch/exploit/whatever you want to call it (I've had them fly past me repeatedly while over 1200 GU from the ship that fired them at me). That's equal or greater than Ion Cannon and Railgun range. Even that notwithstanding, if you just keep range and lob missiles or SI that's not enough to kill a couple shrooms camping at a depot rock so they just sit there launching fighters until the enemy gets bored and leaves, more people log on so they can counterattack, or it gets late and people have to log off. UGTO is also the only faction that can reliably go AFK while in plain sight at a depot planet, even during combat, and not have to worry much about coming back to the ship selection screen. Try that in any ICC or Kluth ship and see what happens.

.....And people are still not seeing why it's an issue?

I've always been of the opinion that Azreal is always right, and I still agree with him here .

Though I'm curious to know how you'd change it, Azreal. Bring back .483 (is that the right number?) cloak? But I don't know what .483 cloak was like :S .
