Will this game ever be ported to Mac OS X? I am sorry but to waste 199 euros (252 Dollars) to buy a copy of Windows 7 to install it on my macbook is a bit too much.

No, Darkspace will not be ported to OSX... A copy of windows 7 sells for less than $80.00 USD.. Not to mention I know from personal experience that DS can run in vmware or crossover within mac os x.
EDIT: Not to mention that DS will run on any old version of windows going back to 98. You could grab yourself a copy of XP for less than $20.00 USD.

It doesn't sell for that cheap in here. The cheapest I've found in Italy was 199 euros. wmware is not the issue, I can install windows via bootcamp.
I'm afraid I'll stay without darkspace till I'm crazy enough to donate 252 dollars to Microsoft.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I did find W7 for 89 euros but that's just the "upgrade". You can only install the full version of W7 into bootcamp.

We're not porting the engine to OpenGL because A) it's worse at rendering and B) requires a lot of work.

Even so, there is still the option of older versions of windows... Windows 7 isnt REQUIRED to run DS, and I know that old versions are not that hard to get your hands on.

afaik microsoft stopped the production of all windows versions oldewr than windows 7
btw, ds runs also perfect in parallels

There seem to still be plenty of websites selling copies of XP for just a couple of dollars.
