The MI, The Machine Intelligence. From the cold dark reaches of space they came, and have been chasing down the Kluth all over the universe. Who knows what or where they came from. Some say they were a creation of the Kluth, others say they were a race the Kluth found. All we know here in human space, is that there here, and they attack you on sight.

The Nexus 14 and Nexus Core are both fleets, for the AI, they show you how tough it is. For some reason the N14 ships are stupid and easy, but the NC ships seem to have a brain in them thats not 100% stupid. At least these are my observations.

As for where the MI spawn?
In Sag they spawn from the Procyon WH Gate in Klaus Borialis. There "server" thats dedicated to them is Procyon. Server is mostly held either by Kluth, or ICC depending on who cares enough to go on a capping spree.

The DarkSpace storyline is about to progress. That's all I'll say.

Gejaheline: Come in. Yes?

???: Er... Petty Officer Inskipp, ma'am. I've got a report for you about some of those ships that "disappeared" in Kaus Borealis.

G: Oh? Do go on, PO.

Inskipp: Deep scan vessels found a couple of the ships that went missing; we identified them as a pair of destroyers that had been on a recon mission around Eassl Octavus, which as we all know was reported to be in the hands of pirates and rebels. The orders were issued by yourself, it seems.

G: Yes, I recall those particular orders. One assumes that they were not found intact?

I: Not at all. They were both drifting out of the solar system into deep space, almost completely smashed. It looks like they were still in formation when both of them were destroyed.
I: Fortunately, one of them still had some functioning hardware, deep inside the ship, and we grabbed a data-dump, including some records of what attacked them. Look at these.

G: Hmm. This is most worrying.
G:...Alright. Have communications issue a Rho-level communique to the relevant Fleet and Intelligence assets that, as of now, Machine Intelligence activity arounf Eassl Octavus has greatly intensified, and they are to plan contingencies in the event of a massive MI incursion.

I: MI? Not pirates at all, then?

G:...No. A fabrication. All details bar their existence are classified above your level.

I: You mean aside from the information about them in the data-dump we got from the destroyers?

G: ...Damn.
G: I'm sorry, PO.

I: What?

G: Damn the chairman and his orders. This much secrecy just isn't right. But what can I do?

G: Frill, we have a potential leak. I need someone up here to clean up my office, and we need to make sure that the team investigating the disappeared ships in Kaus Borealis either has the required clearance, or...

Frill: Very good, Brigadier. I'll get right on it.

...

G: ...What's this?

The MI are the scariest things you will see in DS.. They will come from the blackness and destroy your entire fleet effortlessly, and then fade again into the night.
