I just want to vent anger and rage about npc supply ships and how so very annoying they are.

On K'luth we have jokes about killing our own npc supply ships because they give away our position and apparently on the human races it does much the same thing when they jump to a 'secret' location of the fleet.

Today I follow a Combat dreadnaught being taken to low hull and just before I can spring a trap and kill him he jumps. I follow close to his planet in an attempt to finish him off before he can get supply ships in. I go slow to prevent energy loss and increase gain and low and behold a npc supply ship arrive DIRECTLY BEHIND ME in regards to the 6 weapon platforms, a Mdread, Cdread and Heavy cruiser aswell as a freaking planet.

I find myself in a rare situation where I was actually full on rage filled shouting insilts and foul language at my computer with such force that I felt like going on a npc killing rampage!!!!!!

Ok, not that I vented alot of my anger i'm going to put forward a suggestion:
- Give your ship the ability to activate somthing that says "under no circumstances come repair me" to npcs. While human races don't really care too much about npc supply ships Kluth rely on stealth to win and survive, it infuriates every one of us when we are on our final bits of hull and just managed to escape the human fleet only to get a npc supply ship jump right to us and then the human fleet knows where we are and finishes us off.

Surely as this game is meant to be on a tactical space combat you could have some sort of button, much like "activate point defence" or "activate shields" that is "activate aid" which would mean that you were looking for aid and supply ships to help you instead of just making your life unbelievably annoying.

I haven't raged that hard about a video game in years.

On this subject, some of you may say "simply cancel the orders", the problem with that are:
- We aren't always looking at the F2 screen to see where npcs are to canel their orders.
- Sometimes when you cancel the orders they just give the same one back again.
- Even if we do see the npc in time before it jumps to cancel the order there is a seemingly set time before the npc will move onto the next task which means if it does not find someone else to annoy it will just warp to you anyway and then move on.
- (and finally) When the ship arrives you scream at it and yell and cancel the order. Even without orders the damned ship will follow your every move (because it is on follow/shadow command) for the next 30 seconds til it finds someone else to piss off.

So, add a button to prevent npc mistakes like this?

Anyone for it?

I agree completely. Having some sort of "No NPC" option would be great for the game. The luth want it for stealth reasons, but I think it could be adapted for other parts of the game. For example, a planet could have the option to prevent npc engis and transports from being able to build or take units off the planet....just my two cents

yea i've played as luth and it is a problem however i think the engies and extractors/transports are just as bad.

Supply AI:-

unfortunately on this matter the polar opposites always seem to happen, you need a supply and no come along, you don't need a supply because you are hiding/cloaked/bidding time they appear.

Engie AI:-
who taught them to build, you could have 100 tech on the planet but if it's unlocked and has any space it will build unwanted rubbish crap on the planet.

Transports AI:-
These can be dangerous to sy planets, due to the fact they take inf from any planet and leave very few inf on a planet esp if it's a sy planet and the enemy see that, i've seen a sy planet get capped from a single transport drop by a player because the AI took all the inf of the planet to cap some used planet.. i mean come on.

Extractors AI:-
these are worse then the Transports. they are wannabe's. their job is to extract/mine not transport troops to a planet which has 18 Billion Defense on it, suiciding the planet and blowing up and giving them res in the process..

the AI Command System needs a complete overhaul..

Example F11 to bring up AI Command Interface
numbers 1-5 bring up different command screens

1) Supply AI Interface:

1) Enable/Disable Supply Me
2) Stay & Supply in orbit of planet (cannot Leave orbit unless under fire)
3) Change Ship ¬ Option for the supply ships to get back to SY/gate
and change their ships to either
Combat/extractors/engies/supply

2) Engie AI Interface:

1) Enable/Disable Quick Build ¬ barrack build - quick builds a barrack planet
¬ Shipyard Build - builds a sy planet
¬ Tier Build - Builds like currently, however
builds differently depending on tech
2) Build Location (sends a engie to build on a planet that u picked)
3) Change Ship ¬ Option for the supply ships to get back to SY/gate
and change their ships to either
Combat/extractors/engies/supply

3) Extractor AI Interface:

1) Mining Location (sends a engie to mine on a planet that your at)
2) Change Ship ¬ Option for the supply ships to get back to SY/gate
and change their ships to either
Combat/extractors/engies/supply

4) Combat AI Interface:

1) Defend planet ¬ Orders the Combat AI to Protect the planet your at
2) Defend Me ¬ Orders the Combat AI to Protect you while
your extracting/building
3) Upgrade Ship ¬ Orders the Combat AI to the SY planet to upgrade it's ship within current resources/tech level
4) Change Ship ¬ Option for the supply ships to get back to SY/gate
and change their ships to either
Combat/extractors/engies/supply

5) Transport AI Interface:

1) capture planet ¬ Orders the transport AI to capture
the planet you have selected
2) trade resources ¬ Orders the Transport AI to go to other planets to collect resources from other planets with Spaceport and give them to the planet you've selected
3) Change Ship ¬ Option for the supply ships to get back to SY/gate
and change their ships to either
Combat/extractors/engies/supply

i doubt this would be added into the game, but i would like to see something similar to this added ingame. hell i'll code the thing if the dev's want

Wouldn't it be easier to set it so NPC supply ships won't come to you at all unless you use the supply distress button?

AI Suppies. They're like freakin' cabbies. Never one when you need 'em.

You call 'em, they're never around.
Just when you're about to launch a sneak attack, one jumps in on your ass.

"Cancel order" should work immidiately on AI.
Combat ai will come to help when you press "being attack".
Suppy Ai will only come when you press "need supply".
The transport only try to capture the planet under 10 infs.

In most of the game, AI transport reveals the opponent planet structures, the players, etc... so it's double-edged sword.

I personally say stop having all AI automatically spawn. Make them only spawn when we call for it.

The only role they serve right now is to annoy everyone. AI sups are useful in certain situations, but seriously, only when I need it ok?

Just remove AI its the easiest and simpliest way.

How many times do ai actually manage to cap a planet, build a plant right, fix a ship when in need. During combat the ai supports are just on a suicide mission and seldom fix ships in need. Even after combat AI supports jumping to your position gives it away.

suppy ai:
probably some fixes around this, like having a sup stay away from cloaked ships, etc.

they do on occasion get ICC and UGTO killed. didnt track the dread? the sup is jumping too, just track that.

building ai:

in MV itd make sense for them to just maintain planets. u could have the server take an "image" of each planet every hour or something, and engineers would try to keep the planet the way it was.

transports:

absolute waste as they are now. they either need to be removed or learn how to drop properly
