Hi all!
Today i was playing and saw a lot of metal floating near planets recently captured and with low resourses.
My proposal. Each planet can have the ability to gravity atract any metal garbage from ships explosions, unused enhancements will be pulled too into it in case any player later will like to get it.
Limit may be 500 gus or 1k gus... dunno... but it will be natural, logic, credible and usefull.
Just a thought

Seems nice, but since it's just cosmetic, it will probably put low on the dev's priority list.

If yer gonna be fooling ard w gravity, I would suggest gravity wells for planets, just like that ancient game Star Control.
Not a direct interpretation. But, the larger the mass of yr ship, the larger the min distance u can park near or orbit a planet. If u go Engines All Stop inside the min range, yr ship will be pulled in at a certain speed by the planet till impact, or till you powered it up beyond 2 gu/s or something to tt effect.

Actually "garbage" littering space eventually decays and goes away if someone doesn't pick it up. If we did put gravity to suck items back to the planets you wouldn't get any useful items because most would burn up during atmospheric entry...

a Planet's Gravity Well, hmm....Smells like Natural Dictor
i mean think about it, Terran palents would have a alrge Natural Dico around it, but Barren would have a small one
SO even if the planet is yours, You still ahve to leave the gravity well of the planet befor the jump, Wouldn't that make sense, Adds some dept into the game, Be a good idea?

Hmm... so then if you put up a dictor field it would counteract planet gravity and allow for friends to jump but not enemies? Sounds interesting, but I thing a simple pull of like 2-5 gu/sec would be the best part.

Something like that I guess.
Gravity well to prevent ships of varying size from parking/orbiting too close (and close drop tranny rushing).
And also the natural gravity well disrupting jumps for all ships regardless of faction. Maybe limited to 100 to 250 gus, depending on planet size. So no trannies can jump next to the planet to drop troops.

mmm like gravity makes ur engines more slower till 500 to 1k gus... every ship... the bigger the slower... like that idea a lot ..!

If we wanna have gravity wells and some more realistic stuff, I swear we need to have some sort of reprocusion for a ship impacting a planet lol.
Though in hind sight I could see that as being a bombing technique.... Who needs cloud bombing when you can have ship bombing... I can see it now, 4 stations all impacting a planet the size of luna just to clear it of population!

Yeah... .....and buildings too.
That would be like levelling a planet in effect.
I was thinking something like that too. Planetary collision does damage to things on the ground at the impact point, and surroundings. Probably have to limit the damage to 4 squares or something. Otherwise it'd be an exploit.
Or, the pres loss for planet collisions in big ships like that has to go way up. LOL.

Just think, we could start tractoring asteroids into planets. It'd be like the Centauri decimating the Narn homeworld from Babylon 5.....of course, they used large scale mass drivers to launch them but you work with what you've got. Think of it as a makeshift core weapon.
