The Nodes have them. The Nautilus Stations have them. But they don't work. When are they going to be finished?
Shipyard Drones suggest what it is meant for. They are meant for building ships while in orbit of a friendly planet. But, they do not work. So is their any chance of them being finished?

P.S- When the Sy Drones are finished... you should add them to the Command Stations.

What do you mean? They are finished... It was just the name put on their Build device that allows them to make Platforms.
Neither race has individual planet structures they can build so we signified the Platform only build as a Shipyard drone.
So what you are asking us to do is take the standard build away from the Command Station so that it can not build planets... You only want Command Stations to build platforms only?
We might consider that...

Didn't say to strip the Command Stations of their right to build planets. But whats the point of having SY Drones, if you cannot build ships with them? If you want to build plats. Just get in an Engi. Mine. And Bobs your uncle.

Have you noticed that Mi and Pirates dont have Engys...
Hence the Platform only builds they have on their stations.
But if you want us to strip the all build from the command and make it a platform only like the Mi and Pirates, we might consider doing that.

The MI have assemblers, which I always thought were engineers.
I don't think I've seen a pirate engineer that was AI-controlled though.

Pirates and MIR have Engineers - the MIR have Assemblers and Pirates have an Engineer ship. Not sure what it's called but I remember seeing it around their planet sometimes, same with the MIR Engineer.
He means the drones the Node has, specified to be Shipyard Drones and meant to build (AI) ships in space, I can only assume. However the AI never seem to make use of it, and elsewhere it was said they just don't work.

MI does not supposed to HAVE a engineer ship, but they indeed have the assambler
Because it is hard to make it available as a event and NPC faction without one.
Pirate should have a engineer ship but would be limited to low tech buildings only.
Currently there is a Pirate Destroyer with a build module, but i don't think they should be flying around. pirates should only have a few planet in rogens..

Well I can say I never noticed MI and pirate stations build anything, if that's what he means by they have no engys.

@the off topic: The MI Engies are Assemblers. And the Pirate Engies are called Pirate Engineers!

I was playing with Shipyard Drones as a way of making them able to spawn AI ships in a similar fashion to platforms. For the Nexus or Node, the intention was to have a very large cargo capacity so it was capable of spawning multiple cruisers and smaller auxiliaries.
This was never intended to be a player useable feature. Instead it was there to be used for various staff driven events, without having to provide access to the scripting interface.
Will they ever be finsihed for player use? No.
Will they ever be finsihed for Staff use? Maybe.
