was wondering since now there are alot of new players joining i know a few are wanting to join fleets but can't and there are alot of fleets that need new players was wondering if we can make it to where player that play for free can join a fleet and to start one you have to be subbed

was wondering that since now there are alot of words in your post i know a few are good words too but can't find periods and there are alot of spots for periods was wondering if you can make it to where words in your post are able to find periods and to have sentence structure

We need perks for the subscribers. Otherwise, everyone would play free and the game would shut down due to lack of funds.

well, aside from how it connects to the thread, the phpBB version is pretty old  We have version 1.4.2, They have 3.0.5 out now.

Yea, there's not an easy way to upgrade since the game is tied into the same database.

lol Thanks Crim. Yes, no offense to W there, but it is much more helpful to communication if even the basics of punctuation and sentence structure are considered.

that would be a great idea... being in a fleet make people learn a lot and they will probably sub in a while......

There have to be some perks to paying for a subscription. Dreads and Stations aren't enough. Being able to have the comradare of a fleet is something worth paying for. As someone else mentioned before.

First off, the phpBB we are using was heavily customized to work with the game (mainly GCQL) and our database system. A couple of times we have reviewed what it would take to upgrade to a newer version of phpBB and realized it was not worth the time required to redo everything. We just wouldn't really get much added functionality over what we have over this hacked and tweaked version.
Second, as stated before, its been our policy for some time now to give incentives for people to subscribe. The money pays for the server, bandwidth, and power bills. Thus if you are subscribing and supporting the game you get higher ranks and ships, and the abilty to create and join fleets.

un-subbed players can learn much about the game by asking questions in the lobby and or in the game server as well.
you dont need to be in a fleet to learn how to play....

while learning the basics of the game it would be advantageous to be able to select different factions and learn different playing styles.
rather than to just play in just 1 fleet and in 1 faction, try them all.
if you do this the right way you will make many acquaintances in all factions and be a better more rounded player … then you can subscribe and start a fleet or join a fleet and be a more active player in the Darkspace community
