Can mining be useful? |

I was wondering if mining could be made useful at all. I was thinking that since anytime a ship gets destroyed you lose prestige from resources lost, would it be possible to mine and decrease your resources lost and return some of the lost prestige. It doesnt have to be much something like a 20 to 1 ratio to keep people from abusing it. So for every 20 resoures you mine you drop your resources lost by 1 point. I know mining is kinda useful when you are building a barren planet but you really dont get anything form mining so why even have a ship that specializes in mining?

Well i think it is useful if you look at it like this:
1. When you want to pull a ship out of a planet SY and you need more resources to get it out, then you mine and drop your resources on the planet so you can.
2. When you want to build platforms and you need resources to do that you can use mining to do the same.
You can also mine with a variety of ships.
The engineer is my favorite
