Ok, Situation:
1) 2 to 4 KLuth Dreads decloak in your back point blank - and u pop like ballon. Even if there are 4 or 5 ships with ECCM on - they just cloak after the attack and are gone to do that some time later again.
2) 2 to 4 KLuth Dreads decloak in front of u - feel that there is to much opposition and just cloak again. no way to find them any more.
Before the last change (cooldown for ECCM) you could at least ping them to see if there are any - now u have no chance whatsoever.
Seems like ECCM is just to waste ur energy...
Or to put it differently: how are we supposed to get hold of any (non AI) KLuth? Seems to me we are not sopposed to

You want to play in Kluth contested space, then bring along someone in a scout...
The bigger ships eccms have a longer cool down, the scouts now excel in this field.
Oh look, little ships have a purpose now...

HINT: Do not -ever- face a planet unless you're attacking that planet, or spinning around to catch fire with other armor platings.
There is no reason to face the planet for any other reason, since it doesn't really give any other benefit other than making it easier for you to imprint your face on the planet's soil.

eh..well u can detect using eccm and listn for the sound from luth engines or just logical things on how luth, and ALL ships manuver in battle etc.
Lots of ppl know these things and those ppl that know how to use it rigth can make it VERY difficult for us to even get close to them.
And for that mather, if u are in a MD, u got shields. USE them! u can transfear ure shield to wherever the enemie are shooting you. Then u can turn around and jump out.
This situation is no diffrent then a UGTO ship jumpin in and shooting you.
So use the things u have availible and ull see how much u actuly can do.

Pinging is the practice of turning your ECCM on and then back off, temporarily showing the location of hidden enemies, like the pinging of sonar.
Use it.

First of all, if several dreads attack you - no matter what faction, you're probably going to be dead.
It just doesnt matter.
You're going to die unless you run.
Secondly, Kluth cloak is absolutely neccessary. Their armor is paper thin. Without it, Kluth wouldn't even be able to stay uncloaked long enough to attack.
Infact, that was the problem I had. I often found my ship to be almost out of armor before it even got close to uncloaking because of the bugged pinging.
Although this is retarded to tell people how to counter something...
Pinging is supposed to give you an idea of where the Kluth are. That way your fleet can organize to catch them when they uncloak.
This is helped massively if you have a scout with beacons. Beacons still are the bane of Kluth. You hit a Kluth with one and suddenly its going to take another ten seconds before cloak fully engages.
Having alot of ECCM around helps too. It takes a long time to not only uncloak (more time to react) but it also takes longer to recloak (longer to pound them).
Also, Kluth is only useful with teamwork. There are always going to be idiots on that faction that try to fight alone. Which makes them alot easier to kill.
But you know, if you're being attacked by overwhelming odds, the stupidest thing you can ever do is stay still or try to fight back. You're going to lose. Jump away.

Ah me - i have not yet found a way to jump to a planet with my back in front. Have u? (and it just takes a while to turn a dread)
But my real question was (maybe i should have stated it different from the beginning - but english is not my mother tongue after all):
If KLuth can cloak and decloak as they want - regardless of ECCM:
1) what is ECCM for then? I could use scanners then - btw whats the difference then - found none in the manual?
2) is it correct then that it is impossible to spot any KLuth ship that does not want to? (Except for the now reduced pinging) - this would lead to
3) how are the other factions supposed to kill any KLuth player if he just can cloak if his damages rises to high?
And @Enterprise:
(quote)
First of all, if several dreads attack you - no matter what faction, you're probably going to be dead.
(quote end)
no other faction can do that - i CANT sneak up at 20 gu range with 4 dreads and open fire on any other ship if i am not KLuth - thats my whole point.
