what i have learned about the assault dread:
it has energy drain issues, as does all ICC ships. what you want to first do when you enter combat, is turn your shields off at long distance. that way, you can go full speed while firing cannons. if the enemy point jumps you, just turn on your shields real fast and fire torps. just treat the AD like a battle dread (firing just cannons and torps) you will be fine. just save the Ion cannon and lazers for the hull, you will win. and contrary to popular belief, the lazers DO hurt... they just hurt hull a LOT more then armor, because of the HP values that are currently set. just manage your speed and go no faster than 10 GU, and keep those shields off whenever possible, you will have enough energy to fight.
but against multiple cruisers...it can do no good. it can be good against a lone cruiser(AKA absolutley smashing it), it does no good alone and against multiple enemies. so those new AD pilots, or pilots aspiring to be AD pilots, remember this: keep those shields off, save the Ion cannon and lazers for bare hull, and keep firing those cannons. and remember to point jump!
this is for those people that doesn't know the ins and outs of the ship and want to pilot it.
