never heard it called that, but close orbit bombing is first and foremost against the rules, secondly its launching bombs within 100gu of a planets surface

Actualy Doran, COBing is considered to be actual Close Orbit Bombing within a certain range where the Planets Point Defence cannot act quick enough to pick off bombs, which would be anywhere from 250 - 100 gu depending on the Defence Base at hand.

Actually, it's 100gu from the surface of the planet. You're wrong Crim.
And I think he knows what he means when he calls it Close Orbit Bombing.

In any case it should be impossible as bombs launched within this range do no damage.

Think of it this way. I am about to punch you. If I am standing 10 feet away you will know im doing it and have time to move. If I am only 6 inches away you can not get out of the way.
Be creative with your brain and apply this to planet defenses. It takes time for a defense system to see a bomb, and then target it, then fire at it.

Pretty much the only reason i asked was because i saw alot of ppl talking about it. im only 13 years old on my brothers laptop. i have never played DarkSpace and i want to, but i just dont have the guts to go ask my bro to put it on his laptop. after going around reading posts i have a real bad ach to play DS. But again i say i dont have the guts to ask my bro to put it on, i will just have to suffice on all the great screenshots in the forums and on the screenshots page.

dont forget though its my bros laptop i could never ask him if i could, and if i just put it on he would get angry, but it is cool to read others posts about 1.480 and all, if i ever got into DS i would never just go bombing other ppls planets and all that jazz. personally i think its just not cool, i dont care if its rpg or what not. its cool to go fight someone in actual combat not bombing their planet and building all the time. if i came in i would'nt spend my whole time bombing and building i would go out and fight someone.
