It may already be there and I don't see it. If so ignore this.
If not, how come DS doesn't have joystick support. I have this sweet joystick I would love to use with DS.

DS doesnt support joysticks as theres no 3D movement (plus it would just take time to code, perhaps when Faustus finishes on a working code he will start to impliment things like this, but for now, its not needed for the game to run, and its not important, so if it is on his list, i wouldnt be surprised if it is FAR down the list).

Well, you CAN kinda get away with a joystick. Look around the options for your joystick, some of them allow you to 'bind' standard keyboard keys to a joytick.. Thus, DS with a joystick!

Logitech has some software that lets you map joystick buttons to keyboard keys - I have a PS2 styled gamepad that I had configured for DS - I just have more fun with the keyboard

Well DS with a joystick would be more fun so now I know why Jack doesn't like it.
For some reason that Jack just wants DS to be unfun.
