Welcome Back! I am also a returning Admiral... though I had to make Admiral again concidering I was gone for awhile and couldn't remember my old account name or password, LOL. Anyways I plan on resubbing soon. I may actually just Resubb out here (currently deployed in support of Operation: Iraqi Freedom) and have the Mrs. back home play my account. She will probably play too when I get home. Then there will be TWO Willis's to deal with! Though she will probably come up with a different name.
Anyways its always great to see a returning customer to DarkSpace. Hope to see you on the Battle Field soon.

Yeah. I got my "better half" hooked on the game right before I left but she said she didn't want to play till I got back. I told her to play anyways to get her stats up a bit, but alas she wants to wait. She really got hooked on the Sci-Fi multi-player online gaming bug when she started playing Star Fleet Command: II then upgraded her thirst when Orion Pirates came out. She is a ruthless Klingon at heart... LOL Fact is she can even speak a smattering of Klingon. I think she will go either ICC (she said the ships remind her of Klingon ships while UGTO remind her of Federation ships... all smooth with clean lines unlike the dark brutal lines of the Klingons... some analogy huh...) or Kluth (She also liked the living ships in Babylon 5).
Then again she has been know to go against everything she says just to be different (I can just hear her taunting me now as we battle against each other from different rooms... I know she will be doing that! lol).
My 12 year old son is also interested in the game but I need to sit down and show it to him... I think he will be hooked for life once he gets to play with it.
I truely think this can be a family game... True there is death and destruction but it is not blood and gore. Besides it is set in a fictional future not the present. I for one have been passing the word out over here to several people to try it out and to my surprise some of them even want me to download and burn a copy of the client so they can take it home with them (some have just dial-up and want an install disk without having to wait who knows how much time to download it. I am faithfully spreading the good word that is DarkSpace to the masses...

Yeah the Sig I have uses the actual Squadron Logo from VF-84 "The Jolly Rogers". It is unfortunate the F-14B's and F-14D's are being retired to the Davis-Monthan AFB War Reserve Center for long term storage. The day they announced the proposed removal of the AIM-54C "Phoenix" missile I knew the days of the Tomcat were numbered. At leats they are not turning them into so many razorblades.
Since I proudly belong to Fatal Squadron I found it not only appropriate but a fitting tribute to one of the most famous Tomcat Squadrons of all time. The Jolly Rogers were imortalized in the Japanese Anime series "Robotech". They were known as Skull Squadron. But enough about the sqaudron and Anime lesson.... lol

Well, between the F18 & the F22 the Tomcat just isn't needed as much.
I'm a bit rusty on my military planes but wasn't the F-18 initially designed as a lighter varient of the F-14, keyed more to the air-to-ground role (which is far more required than air-to-air), but with the manuverability to match an F-14 in a dogfight?

Removal of the Phoenix missile? Why?!
I'm certainly no expert, but I think the F/A-18 was designed to be a multi-role strike fighter, able to do anything and everything. Kinda like the Navy's version of the F-16.
And Jester, that is one rad pic.
