How does this work.
I mean.
Once you capture it. Does it die and you get prest?
Do they side with your team?

it changes faction to yours, and starts firing on the enemy faction.

Land infantry on enemy ships. Since they travel across ships thru space, and slowly, a ship going faster or PD may stop the infantry for ever getting to the other ship. A close fly-by at point blank is good. There is a small chance of capturing an enemy ship, and the chance gets smaller from the smallest, (scout) to the biggest. (station) You can increase the chance by using better and better infantry. From Green Infantry to Elite Heavy Infantry. If you land inf on an enemy ship, but are unable to capture it, it still does good, because random enemy systems are put to 0%.
Oh, and in my past experiences, when a ship is captured by you, you go to Ship Select Mode, and your ship and the captured ship stay alive, although you can't control either of them, and your ship flies aimlessly, without guidance.

It basically becomes an AI ship fighting for your side.
Hehe, I'll never forget the time an ICC captured a hive & we used it as orbital defense in Nicea... who was it that capped that? For some reason I'm thinking Axi... but I'm not sure....

yeh the best way is to have the enemy ship chase you at close range, and unload all ur infantry.
It is best to unload all ur infantry, since, for example, if u load 1 inf onto a scout, that's all you will be able to fit (as far as i know), but if u unload 4 infantry simultaneously, they will all land, and have a better chance of succeeding, or diabling more systems, because it is one sytem reduced to 0% per infantry.
The more and better infantry the better chance of succeeding, and i heard elite inf increase the chance about 5%. Heavy inf works better, as well.
once the ship is capped, it simply becomes an AI ship for ur team, though im not sure if you can give it orders. I had to kill myself once...

Actually it changes faction to yours THEN it commences to drift across the MV (quite uselessly) for as much as 4 days (in the case of TAXI's Dread ) until it finally is either destroyed or drifts off the map. I've only seen 2 ships drift though because most get destroyed. I never have seen a capped ship fire on anything.

Oh they definately fire at the enemy. I've had to fight myself more than once, and I fought back =P
Heh... I had an AC capped once, brought out my HC to kill it, got my HC capped (both times by Mad John! Rawr!), had to kill it with an AC =P

Funny part about that capped Hive was when we tractored it to a better spot to help block the bombing.
LMAO
What's with the capped ship going to some random planet? Or is that the last desperate orders of its commander, trying to make it back to friendly inf?
Also didn't someone issue orders to a capped ship/hive, and it worked???
