I was wondering.

When you start a planet in early game. What kind of build do you use?

How do you get a good quick population growth?
Whats the best build for a quick ship yard and some defense?

Is there an effective to manage a planet with out scraping buildings.
Most of the time as tech grows i scrap lower lvl mines/food/gens/research and get the better ones. It allows me more building room.

About the factory and adding new equipment.
What can you use to replace the mirv bomb slots?
Why can't i use cruiser missles in my missel slots?

Any good ship set ups for Lt commander rank ships?

Considering you need at least 50 population for any planet (on average 70 pop for an MV planet) the following is the build order I tend to use:-

  1. ColonyHub
  2. Barracks - These are essential to speed population growth as every infantry you disband adds one population to your planet.
  3. Barracks
  4. Mine
  5. Mine
  6. Barracks
  7. Fusion Plant
  8. Dome
  9. Dome
  10. Hydrofarm
  11. Hydrofarm
  12. Barracks
  13. Barracks
  14. Mine
  15. Research Lab

I will continue a similar build pattern until the planet has about 10-15 Barracks, Mines, Power, and Domes/Hydrofarms to support the population. Early game I will scrap additional infantry (over 3 units) to increase the population growth. Its very important to bear in mind that you need 20 population to generate one tech point per cycle. Getting population up fast is the most important objective as it greatly effects how fast you can upgrade your buildings (and get that 20 tech for the defense!)
Scrapping is essential to the build process,

Question.

If scraping is so important, then why do we lose prest, from it.
It seems that it should not be.

The prestige lost is about equal to the prestige gained from building something new, HOWEVER if your scrapping to sabotage a planet THEN it will hurt the overal prestige..
it was put in place to make the step to sabotage even more hard to take.

answer to scraping

scraping cost you points if you dont rebuild

there is a way to compensate from that.

later on when you can get a surply ship with 2 reload/build slots

you mount 2 builds

every time you start building with one slot you select the building you just startet with no.1 build and activate no.2 build on it

you recive 2 build points for the building eg even if you lose 1 point for scraping 1 structure, you will gain 1 point for the full build eg dont lose anything but gain for each build.

another advantage from doing it this way, it speeds up the building time by 2x using 2x builds, so if you have a building that take 2 min to build it takes 1 min with 2x builds.

have fun.

btw building in MV server do not, for most planets, need mines most planets have what it need.

I mostly play in the newbie server.
I feal that the meta server is way to large for such a few amount of people.
Its hard to see good battles erupt when such space resides between players. This map would be great if the fan base for it and activity was much larger.

Would be great to see players who log on and chose their side remain on that side till the server resets.
It would also be great to see auto balancing between choices.
A smart server allowing new players entering only the options of chosing the side which is under balanced.
50 players on the meta server would be great..

To bad i doesn't go that way.

if your just starting out, doesnt matter. later on, you'd want an ICC build to put shields on your planet, or to have pulsebeam defence bases. or use a kluth build for psimissile defence bases and larve fighterbases

1- mirvs or bio bombs
2- proton cruise missiles are currently heavy bombs (not true in beta). they have their own slot and are the only weapon to fit in that slot
